A short drabble based upon a plot bunny by qinfinity, which was the following: In the Middle of the chapter Not at Home, the Dwarves come upon the great treasure of Smaug. This is where Bilbo acquires his fabled coat of mithril. "With that he put on Bilbo a small coat of mail, wrought for some elf-prince long ago." Who was the elf-prince? Could it have belonged to the same elf that would later be chosen to join Frodo on his Quest?
