Gilraen is now beyond the Circles of Arda, Aragorn hasn't yet returned from his sojourn in Gondor, and in his absence, the Last Homely House is not celebrating the Mannish holiday of Yule. Then a pair of riders arrive the day before Yule, and plans change at the very last minute, thanks to a certain Prince of Mirkwood and a Balrog-Slayer.
