| 'Yes, he is bright...' Merry said absently. He smiled. 'His name is Jewel.' He turned to meet his older cousin's gaze. For the first time in a long time, Frodo's smile went all the way to his eyes. ********** Oh! Just so wonderful! I love it all. | Nice little bits of the Cotton family character. it seems only right that the sons inherited their father's feel for living things. I always knew they were my faorite hobbit family. Delicious description of breakfast! Author Reply: The Cottons are your favourite hobbit family? What a lovely thing to say! (I do love the glimpse we got of the farmer in the original, during the scouring of the Shire.) I got to know them a little better in "A Small and Passing Thing" and found them to be "salt of the earth", as my grandmother used to say. *g* | |
