Jewels  by Lindelea 2 Review(s)

Yikes … Pippin is going to have to deal with this eventually, but I suspect he has some depression going on and that makes things really hard…

Author Reply: I think you're right. The thought of facing a permanent limitation is depressing, and he's already been pulled down by his father's criticism and fault-finding. Alas, poor Paladin, he wasn't trained to take on the Thainship, and he's desperate for his son to avoid the shock and difficulty, but how does one who was never trained turn around and train his successor? (There's a lot to be said for on-the-job training if one has a good mentor, but that wasn't the case for Paladin.)

But at the moment, Pippin's feeling rather useless to everyone, and that's a hard feeling to fight.

I can appreciate how miserable Pippin has been, and why he wants to leave the succession for the Thainship. No, he's not going to do well as a farmer, not now with his lungs compromised as they are. Can he find a way to compromise with Paladin? Paladin definitely needs to get real when it deals with his son.

Author Reply: You're right on all counts! Thanks. Hope to see you next week.
