This is really lovely. I've just spent a happy hour reading about the poor little mite. I would be really worried about Ereinion, if I didn't know that he seems perfectly happy later on.
His poor parents - sending him off to safety, never to see him again. Has it not yet occurred to Cirdan that it might be a good idea to bring in a female used to looking after distressed elflings to be a carer for him? They are each so confused by the other that they don't know what they are doing. The kid will win, though. Crusty old seadogs don't stand a chance against persistent elflings.
