| Hi :) I m fan of the SoA content. My fav authors are Larner, Dreamflower, Illyria, Shirebound, Aratlithiel, Budgielover, BagginsBabe, Linda Hoyland, Lindelea, Elendiari, FEBOBE, Armariel, and many others and yesterday I was having very difficult stressful time so I just wanted to find on SOA anything relaxing with a bit of light and misticism in it. And so I read this story and it was so good. Thank you. :) One of my fav hobbies of the fandom is translating fanfictions. Its over 140 of them with many of them from Larner and other great authors. Most of my translations are here: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/242280/ I asked them of course. So I would like to humbly ask you about permission to translate this story into my language. | I had decided that I wanted to read a story that mentioned Earendil before I went to sleep tonight. And after I put Earendil into the character search, I found this story and I'm so very glad I did! It's a wonderful little tale, and I love the idea that the reason that Gollum didn't immediately follow Frodo and Sam in to where the Cracks of Doom were, giving them the chance to actually get to the place where the Ring was forged, was because an orc who apparently somehow subconsciously remembered the very early elvish beginnings of his life. Hahrvye is one of the most unusual original characters I've read lately and a very good one! I suppose that other people would assume that Hahrvye became an angel, but I like to think that because of his good deeds, he was granted his deepest wish, to be like the bird that he had seen soaring in the sky--which I took to be one of Manwe's eagles. So I think that when the feathers sprouted, he may have been transformed into a gloriously beautiful eagle. :) Lovely, lovely tale! Well done! | |

| I really liked this. I think it was a very searching look into the mind of an Orc. I especially liked how the memories seemed to dance on the edges of his perception, always elusive for him and yet so clear to us. I liked how he questions his own motives and his own self because its almost as if he knows this isn't how it should be. And a lovely climax with his crying out in Quenya! | What a delightful story, to have a little orc watch over Frodo and Sam on their way to destroy the ring. My heart went out to Hahrvye who was searching for a light he had never seen, but some how knew that it excisted. I loved the ending, Hahrvye getting wings to fly with the birds, a wish come true. | Thanks for the link to this, I really liked it. Half way through my brain remembered the speech that in the films Saruman gave about orcs being elves once and suddenly it gave Hahrvye a reason for his longing, even if he didn't know it. I think that made his longing more credible, that somehow he remembered the light of the elves but other orcs didn't. You should definitely write some more things, if you have chance, and let me know when you do, because I'd like to read them :) hugs Zebbo Author Reply: Thanks SOSOSOSO much for coming over here and reading my story! Especially for Leaving a comment!!. I wish more people would. I had also read somewhere (can't remember exactly where) in one of the tolkien books that it was possible that orc were made from elves. I think it sounds credible. The truly evil would despise the goodness of elves. Rather than simply killing/destroying them, why not turn them to evil! poor elves. I also thought it might just be credible that one was "saved" if only partly, to help end a future great evil. Hence Hahrvye. I tried very hard to stick to cannon on this story. Hard to do and keep Hahrvye unseen. (grin) THanks again!!! Hugs right back at ya! | |

| I really liked that story! I like thinking that a little orc (who might possibly have been an elf at one time in the far past), who was different from the others (corrupted and yet not totally) could act as a servant of good and help Sam and Misterfrodo complete their Quest. This was different - but I like the thought that Sauron and even Morgoth failed with this captive, and that failure played a part in the final victory over evil! linda Author Reply: What an Awesome review! Thanks for sending it! I like the theory that orcs are decended from elves. although the idea is a bit sad. What must elves have been put through to become orcs?! Ya know, I could have almost titled this story "Sauron's Bane" For you are correct. Something went wrong when making Hahrvye evil. Elbereth must have known ahead of time that he would be needed.
