| It seems Ithilden has bad luck with Alfirin...He saved from burning her but she was to embarrassed for him to walk her back with her dress torn. Eilian is close to discovering who is profiting from ther herb and would love to beat them up over it.. Author Reply: I had a great deal of fun torturing poor Ithilden in this story. He's usually so dignified that this must have been awful for him. And yes, Eilian is close. Were you relieved when you found out he was acting? I think I fooled most readers. | |

| Thank you Ithilden for talking to Legolas, at least a little! And I was glad to see Thranduil questioning the wisdom of involving Eilian in something like this with him still suffering from the sickness himself (no matter how good he is or how much he likes this kind of action). Hiolith (finally got that name right! sorry!) doesn't seem like a bad elf, just very sad and isolated...he seems to want to help, but has gotten involved with the wrong crowd. I hope Eilian can help him somehow. (Sorry I haven't kept up reviewing lately...I have promised myself that tonite I will read and review until I am current...or else!!!) Great chapter, as usual, daw! (I was relieved that Ithilden said something to the kid...I still think they'd better involve him more, tho'.) linda Author Reply: Ithilden is sort of growing on me. I can see now in warmer moments like this one. When you think about it, Eilian was away for much of the time Legolas was growing up but Ithilden was around. Thranduil worries about Eilian and maybe always will. And that's good, although Eilian sometimes resents it, feeling like his father has no faith in him. | |

| You are doing well making Hiolith a sympathetic character. He is in over his head with those blasted humans but he does seem to want to help Eilian. I am glad Maltanaur is around - and I am sure Thanduil is as well. This whole situation seems to have the king quite stressed out. I think everyone will be relieved when it is over. It doesn't take long for any kid to go stir crazy in their room, especially when they are worried about something. Ithilden's concern for his kid brother is very sweet. His feelings on Turgon mirror my own. He is very wise to keep his opinion to himself on that one. The subject of dwarves is much safer. The crown prince did a good job trying to reassure the elfling while not giving away any of their plot. Legolas is kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place by his family's position. He really doesn't have a good person to talk to about the whole mess. Thranduil's desire to meddle in Ithilden's courtship was very funny. He is such a control freak. I am glad that Ithilden has so much confidence in his brother. I like how you temper Thranduil's faith with a father's worry. Never say "the could hardly go worse." because they always can. Ripping your date's clothes off is rarely seen as a good thing. Poor, proper Alfirin must have been completely scandalized. Ithilden is doomed. I feel really sorry for his sparring partner. Eilian and Maltanaur picked an informative night to follow Hiolith. One of your men seems decent but the other two are just evil (grin)! I want to help Eilian pound them. I saw "Without a Paddle" this weekend and your dangwath patch reminded me of it. In one scene the three heroes are running through a huge field of marijuana while being targeted with rifles. They are completely terrified. Then the field catches on fire and they go from running pell mell and being scared to death to laughing hysterically while being unable to stand. It was very funny. Be careful about burning that field of dangwath. I went to Catholic school in New Orleans. If you opened a window there the heat and humidity rapidly rendered you unconscious. It does sound like an effective trick in the north. Author Reply: Hiolith is interesting to me. My beta is a pharmacist who worked in a VA hospital and she has told me some stuff I'm trying to use with him. He's not all bad and he seems kind of lost from the community. Legolas is going to have trouble staying put when he's so worried about Eilian. You are right on that one. And I suppose the boredom is what makes it a good punishment in normal times. Thranduil just can't quite get over his fears for and about Eilian. It takes those two a long time to come to terms with one another. I laughed at your description of the burning marijuana field. Isn't that what the feds usually do to it though? What a happy job! | |

| Brilliant! Daw, you really amaze me. And here was silly me thinking Eilian was actually taking the dangwath. Well this has proved I have the same mentality as little Legolas. In fact, he's probably smarter... Anyways, what a brilliant plot! Eilian isn't taking the dangwath himself, but pretending to. That way he can keep up the appearance of High Elf, and that lets him spy on Hiolith. Kudos to Ithilden or Eilian-or which of them made up this plan. The Woodland Realm should be proud to have such a smart royal family. However, I foresee further complications. Please don't tell me Legolas is going to get mixed up in this again-and possibly ruin Eilian's and Maltanuar's cover when they spy on the Men? Well I'm finally caught up, but now I can't wait for an update! Excellent fic, Daw! Author Reply: Thank you, Estel. You're making me blush! Eilian accepts your apology. :-) I think the idea was Ithilden's. He had a hard time convincing Thranduil to go along with it, but Ithilden has quite a lot of faith in Eilian, more than Thranduil, I think. Eilian didn't think up the plot because he was sick with shadow sickness at the time, but he was intrigued by it and wanted to do it. You don't think Legolas will stay quietly in his room? Whyever not? LOL | |

| Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm soooooo glad Eilian is working "undercover" so to speak and am also glad Hiolith isn't an Elf out for money, just wanting to help others get through shadow sickness. I'm with Eilian, those men all need to be beaten bloody and dropped from a high point. Well, maybe two of them and the boss man, whoever that is. Grrrr Legolas, poor little Legolas enduring his punishment. *sigh* I really wish they'd tell him what is going on so he won't get into trouble. And if he DOES get into a scrape and manages to get himself out of it, how about Thranduil NOT finding out about it for once? *g* I just knew Ithilden was in for a bad time when he said it couldn't get worse than his first visit with Alfrin. Oy ve! With courting like that happening, how in the world did they ever manage to marry?!? At this rate, poor Ithilden won't even go back except to apologize, if he doesn't send a gift with a letter instead and avoid seeing her anymore in person. Sheesh! Author Reply: I'm glad the chapter made you happy, Duchess. Eilian is a clever narc, isnt' he? It's kind of insulting that everyone assumed he was really addicted, poor guy! Hiolith, on the other hand, is addicted, but he's also not a terrible person (as Legolas says, such a person might not be all bad). You want Legolas to get away with something? He has the all-seeing Thranduil as a father, Duchess. I don't think there's much hope. And poor Ithilden indeed. He tempted fate by saying things couldn't get worse. He should have known better. | |

| That was well done. So it was just a scheme to make Eilian look like he couldn't stop using the herb? That was very clever. Had lots of us fooled, me included. Poor Alfirin! It seems whatever Ithilden and her do it always ends up in a bad and embarassing way. Good chapter! -sofia Author Reply: Eilian is very clever. :-) In a way, it's sad he was so easy to believe. Alfirin and Ithilden are both embarrassing themselves endlessly. Poor things. I wonder if they tell Sinnarn stories about this? Somehow, I think not! | |

| I am so relieved and yet simultaneously so worried yes Elian is doing something with the full sanction of his adar and brother but he is also taking a huge risk amd only the fact that Malantaur is there gives me any hope that he will not do anything too foolish. I loved Malataurs final comment! Also Legolas confined to his chamber and champing at the bit I do hope he will not go out over the balcony and into the forest to 'help' Eilian, but fear the worst And Ithilden how many times can that poor elf be made to suffer such torments his self assurance is taking a mighty knock here Thranduil's thoughts over his procrastination made me smile A wonderful chapter so much to enjoy and savour J Author Reply: Eilian is doing something dangerous, which in his book means he's doing something fun. What would be the fun of sitting around the palace? He and his father would be driving one another crazy. ;-) I wish I had written about the palace as having balconies because that would make my life easier, but I used Bilbo's assertion in The Hobbit that the only exits were the front doors and the trap door in the cellar. Fortunately, Legolas is endlessly resourceful. I'm thinking that Thranduil is ready for grandchildren and wouldn't mind giving his oldest son a push. | I like Tynd - I seem to remember him being kind to a young Legolas. He has Good Qualities. Although I would like to see Tinar in regular confrontation with Good King Thranduil. I must stop using reviews for conversation. Author Reply: You are very cruel to want Tinar to have to face Thranduil regularly, Bodkin! I think having Ithilden breathing down his neck in his office would actually be almost as good. | |

| I think that Sinnarn is going to need a new keeper and I've been wondering who to give the job to. I don't want to create a new OC, since that would do away with some of the benefit I got from wiping some of them out. I could just take some minor character I've mentioned and give him the job, I guess. Still, I think it would be harder for a fully adult Sinnarn (or Eilian or Legolas) to form a relationship with a keeper. I guess the relationship would be of a different kind. That might affect who got chosen to be the keeper. There was this immediate burst of mad laughter and a voice that screamed 'Tinar!' Then a much more sensible one that said 'Not!' I think the new keeper needs to be younger - after all, Sinnarn will be training the keeper as much as the keeper is training Sinnarn. Tynd springs to mind. Probably mainly because I've forgotten most of the names. I just reread See the Stars - to check up on Ithilden's courting. He still looked a bit like someone trying to walk on ice. Author Reply: Tinar??? Tinar??????? No. Thranduil makes these appointments and I cannot imagine him allowing that. But you know what? Tynd is a good idea. He's serious and capable and personable. I think he and Sinnarn could get to be friends and he could watch Sinnarn's back well. | |
