Hah, they considered it and went ahead anyway! LOL!
Rose

Author Reply: Well, they would, wouldn't they? Can you imagine them going back to Glorfindel and saying, 'We lost Legolas and Camentur. What should we do now?'

Not their style!

Glad you made it back and have given us more. I've been missing my viewing of the blessed realm this week.

Well, at least one of those two knows how to buckle down. Poor Minalcar still has a way to go to learn. Glrofindel will eventually straighten him out I'm sure. You are writing good scenes showing how these sheltered ones are going to have to learn how to adept.

I think Legolas will indeed be surprised with what Elerrina will be able to put up with. But his brother-in-law is right, he just has to watch how to approach the situation and she'll think it's all her idea, LOL.

And I just loved that line about expecting the twins to act rationally was about the same as the sun rising in the west. Those two have a real rep to live down, and they even recognize that. Hmm, do they feel they need to live up to that rep?

Author Reply: Although I am keen to try to tie it all together and come to the natural conclusion, I am going to miss playing with this. Although, with September coming, I will be less able to abandon myself to live in the Blessed Realm!

It all boils down to parenting really - Minalcar said that Ambantor's father took him to the woods and did father/son stuff - whereas Minalcar has been educated to take up a suitable role for one of his family, but I feel he has missed out on the parental example of care. He isn't stupid though, so he will learn, if given enough attention.

Elerrina will be all right. She has been sheltered - very much a protected daughter - but she is pretty strong and she loves Legolas and wants him to be happy. As long as he shows that he appreciates what she is doing!

The twins are headstrong - but they are also experienced and skilled. Just not, perhaps, very diplomatic.

More soon.

‘Of course,’ Elrohir returned, then hesitated. ‘We should probably go back,’ he said. ‘It would be wiser to involve Tineithil in this. He would be the most likely to extract Legolas and Camentur without upsetting local sensibilities.’

Elladan looked at him, but remained silent.

‘It needed to be said,’ Elrohir apologised. ‘We are old enough not to jump in without considering the situation.’

‘And now we have considered it?’

‘They went that way,’ Elrohir pointed out, and they exchanged grins before following the path along which their friends had been led some hours before.

This by far is my favorite part of this chapter.. and the rest of the chapter is wonderful.. this is just more so.. and it is soooo bery much like the Twins.. I love it.. You are very good.. :)

Author Reply: I love the twins - I think their closeness has given them a link that other elven siblings can't really have. And Legolas knew that there was very little chance of them taking the path of caution.

I am glad you liked it. More soon.

Yay! An update...I've been looking for one for days! Hope your trip was great!

Another wonderful peak at the forest elves and their reaction to the "invasion" by the M-e elves! You can't blame them for being suspicious and stand-offish...in the Lady's words, everything would change if she allows them to enter her forest. I loved the forest here...the trees are somewhat divided in their feelings about Legolas, aren't they? He never knew the other elves were coming until he sensed the change in the song, but they never really warned him. And then they sounded apologetic as he and Camentur are being led away! PLEASE say they are being taken to the Lady! hinthinthint :-)

EWWWWWWW! Cleaning fish! Gross!...and SMELLY! Way to go, Glorfindel!

Elerrina and the new life in the forest - bless Legolas for worrying about her reaction, and you did such a good job of showing how it will hurt him to leave the forest, even if it is for his wife's sake! But I have a sneaking suspicion she's a lot tougher than he thinks...and she wouldn't want to hurt her husband, either - she just doesn't seem to be the selfish type who would take him away from the place his heart has in the woods. At least, I don't think she is!

Loareg - bless his heart...getting to know the new "kids" up close and personal! I had to laugh at his Adar's neat little maneuvering in getting him to help out! Wonderful Chapter...sure was glad to see it after the day I had!!!!!! LOL

Author Reply: I enjoyed myself among the parish records in Canterbury Cathedral - although I didn't find anything terribly significant.

I don't know that I would be too happy if loads of outsiders decided to come and build big settlements in my home - I'm not surprised the locals are a bit wary. I think the trees find it hard to keep things from Legolas, but they are probably closer to their own elves. Where are they going? You will know soon!

Gutting fish - one of the nastiest tasks. Although, I suppose, someone has to do it. But a bit of humility will be good for Minalcar.

Elerrina will be all right - they will make sure that there is a reasonable level of comfort before they bring out their families, and I daresay she would rather be with Legolas even if she found it a bit primitive.

I hope Loareg enjoys his time with Minalcar and Ambantor - he should find it a Learning Experience - and, maybe, so will they!

I hope tomorrow is a better day, Miss Scarlett.

So glad you are back from your trip! I love these two stories and while I am dying to see how the turn out I am also dreading the ending because I will miss them so much. They are great! You've done a great job with a complex and suspenseful plot.

Author Reply: Reflections could go on for ever, I think, although I need to get this one finished to think about it again. This actually has an ending. Sort of. And I have written the very last bit!

I'm glad you are enjoying it. And I'm sure I won't be able to resist doing something else!

I've been checking for updates all day! Welcome back - I hope you had a nice time. That's more than can be said for Legolas and Camentur - the fact that they've been abducted by wood elves is a neat twist! I loved Legolas's thoughts about the twins: 'that they had the sense to go for assistance rather than throw themselves headlong into a rescue attempt. Although, he sighed, there was really more chance of the sun coming up in the west.' He clearly knows them very well! I liked Loereg winding up the two guards on fish-gutting duties too!

I'm glad that Elladan and Legolas now know Elrohir's news.

Author Reply: Thank you, it was quite fun, although we didn't track down any more ancestors.

Abducted by elves! Poor Legolas. And Camentur. Can you see the twins not rushing to the rescue?

I hate the smell of fish, so being compelled to do that would be truly horrible - so it seemed a suitable task for a spoilt brat. I hope he learns quickly that complaining only gets him in more trouble!

Elrohir needs to get home to Sirithiel soon.

Oh yay! I was so glad to see this update.

I felt bad for Legolas worrying whether about Elerrina would like living in the forest. Her brother is really quite encouraging. It would be a big change for her but maybe she would like it, especially for her children.

It's interesting to see the different attitudes of the 'native' elves. The ones in the village seem pretty suspicious but actually that's very wood-elfy, I think. Thranduil's people didn't exactly welcome strangers with open arms.

Still loving Glorfindel's training of Minalcar. In a way, I don't fault Minalcar. He was raised to live a different kind of life and probably would have done well at it eventually (once he outgrew gambling- assuming he did). But he's sure have to struggle to adjust to this one. But at least he is struggling.

And I'm dying to see who Legolas and his brother in law are going to meet. Tell me it's the Lady!

Author Reply: It will be a big change for Elerrina - especially at first - but I think she will adjust. She will know how happy Legolas is, and I expect her Wood Elfy offspring will adore it.

The villagers are more suspicious - and I suspect the most suspicious elves just aren't coming anywhere near them. Most of those turning up to look are probably the most open and curious.

Minalcar is a bit of an idiot - but he is quite a strong minded idiot. Ambantor is a quicker learner, I think. They are both rather immature - but should find this a useful experience.

Who are they going to meet - tune in and see!
