I'm already looking forward to the next chapter of this story. I, like you, read Baylor's stories first, and took them for canon from there on. They, more than anything next to the Professor's own words, influenced my writing. What a pleasant surprise to see the promise ritual played out in this story! Am so looking forward to more!

Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed it! ^_^ I'm drawing a bit from Baylor in my OC story "The Fellowship of the Greenholms". More precisely, I WILL be. Winter sickness, children getting stuck in barrels trying to imitate the dwarves escaping the Wood Elves in The Hobbit (although NOT in the actual palace of Thranduil), Legolas saving children from trees...IF she gives permission, that is. I am fully in favor of asking before you use someone's idea, even if you do credit them.

But, yeah! I'm glad you enjoyed it. More should be coming soon, unless it's delayed by the story I'm writing for MarigoldG's challenge #9...That one is going to take awhile. *glares at long plot bunny*

Ah, lovely work. I just love visiting ME through a good fic like this. I'd live there forever if I could.

Yes, I can see the influence of Baylor's Pippin in your writing. Baylor influenced my Pippin a lot too . . . I just love that delicious tender feeling I get when I read that particular relationship. I wrote my own Pippin very similarly, and I got a review from Ariel saying that I was writing Pippin a little young, that he was really a bit more mature than this, if you study the dates in the books carefully.

However, I still enjoy the tender moments, and I wouldn't change them for the world! Congratulations, and please write more! I'm adding you to my favorite authors list right now!

Author Reply: Well, we must remember that Pippin WAS only 28 at the start of the quest (if my memory serves correctly), which would make him still a few years away from his coming of age. Going on that thought, I tend to write my Hobbits as a little more immature than they would be at that age as humans.

Anyhow, I'm glad you like the tender moments. Personally, I believe Pippin is one of those people who never really grows up. True, he matured alot in LotR, but I think of him as being a very...childish adult, even as he got older. I still have to have a good-night kiss from my Mama every night, and I'm 18. So I think Pippin's allowed to ask for a story and climb into Merry's bed. ^_^

I'm hoping to finish soon - keep bugging me via e-mail about it and I probably will!
