| Loved the chapter. I think Thranduil is right that she's good for him. This was lovely flirting. It was sensual but still innocent. Author Reply: Yes, she is good for him. A little youthful play would not hurt him. Indeed young people tend to flirt this way and it is innocent. I'm glad you liked it :) | |

| What a lovely chapter - though she is a bit forward really, pulling Thranduil in the river like that on such short acquaintance. She is clearly perfect for him. I suspect her adar will not be too pleased though. Engwe is rather a killjoy. He wants to watch it! Author Reply: She is terribly forward pushing poor Thranduil into the water. I doubt anyone has ever treated him that way. Might be good for him. He might need a little play. Amglaur would not be pleased simply to know she and Thranduil are on speaking terms so it is likely no good will come of this little excursion from his point of view. And Engwe is simply too full of himself. How long do you think he'll get away with that attitude? Not long I imagine. | |

| Ooh. . . a secluded glade. . . which just happens to have a swimming hole. . . which just happens to be warm enough for swimming despite being fed by mountain run-off streams. . . on a day which just happens to be warm and perfect. . . you've been watching Bollywood movies, haven't you? Thranduil's bodyguard du jour must have thought he had died and gone to Mandos watching that. Actually, the reason I thought of Bollywood was the lovely descriptions of Lindomiel in a soaking wet shift. Apparently, Indian censors don't like nudity, so Bollywood movies don't technically have any. But they get around that restriction by having a lot of love scenes where the heroine is wearing something light and flimsy, and a sudden rainstorm "just happens along." Her lovely silk shift will be ruined, but that'll just learn her that silk isn't a good fabric for such things anyway, and it will have been sacrificed for a good cause, namely making Thranduil relax a little. The poor guy's been through so many moves and been a refugee so often that he deserves a little happiness, and when Uncle Engwe takes the stick out of his tuchis and realizes this, his life will be perfect. I'll bet Uncle Engwe is just jealous. Maybe he lost someone he loved and is all jealous and twisted and bitter and Dickensian because of it. If Thranduil and Lindomiel continue courting till Yule, will he turn up and mutter "Bah! Humbug!" at them? Ooh, thought! I'm sure the gossip about Thranduil's damp homecoming has spread all over the community in the time it's taken me to write this. Marti, our Black Swan, is not going to be pleased. I think Thranduil will be very glad of his bodyguards fairly soon. But, on the bright side, it looks as though Lindomiel is assertive enough to court the befuddled King, and Amglaur's permission will be nothing more than a formality. Lindomiel seems like the kind of person who will make her own decisions, thankyouverymuch, and she won't be afraid to tell Amglaur to shove it if need be. Author Reply: I have to admit, you had me on the reference to Bollywood. I had fun looking that one up. :) It is funny that you call attention to Thranduil's body guard. I have several versions of the next chapter. I don't really know which one I like or will post--I will have to take time out to make up my mind tonight after I finish putting the hurricane shutters up--but a few revolve around some repercussions with the bodyguard du jour. At any rate--can you imagine what his reaction must have been? It makes me laugh a little to think that people like this would have to try to court each other knowing they were under guard. It could not be very romantic. Poor Uncle Engwe is just to stiff. He does need to cool it soon but his opinion doesn't really matter to Thranduil anyway. Along the same lines, I think you are probably right about Amglaur. Lindomiel is very assertive and I think she could argue down her father. And yes, gossip can do interesting things. | |
