Great job with the challenge and much fun! Loved them saluting Arwen's birth! Author Reply: For some reason, many of my drabbles tend to be angsty - it was nice to write something light-hearted for a change! I think the twins would have been very proud, loving older brothers.

A very clever and well-written solution to the challenge, Jay. It's an odd coincidence that the twins and Arwen were born 111 years apart. I wonder if it is really a coincidence? I wouldn't put it past Tolkien to have a fondness for that number and to use whenever he could. Author Reply: Tolkien loved words, and invented 'eleventy-one' - so I don't think it is coincidence. The challenge didn't actually say it had to be about Hobbits; and I much prefer to write about my favourite elves!

Very nice. I like the idea of fireworks to celebrate Arwen's birth. I wonder if Mithrandir was there? Then there would have been pipeweed too. Imagine being 111 years older than your sibling. And minutes apart from the other. Nearly all elflings must have grown up as only children. Except the twins. Author Reply: The Istari did not appear until about 1050, and Tobold Hornblower first grew pipe-weed in 2670. So no Mithrandir, and no pipe-weed, I'm afraid. These are silent elvish fireworks. That's an interesting point about elflings being only children. I hadn't thought of it like that before.
