Estel's Birthday  by shirebound 16 Review(s)

Sam as sunshine on the flowers. Very nice word-picture.

Their packing for camping sounds exhaustively like our packing for camping.

Thinking in my imagination that Ollie's head from nose to eartip is possibly as tall as Pippin's whole body!

I cannot believe a bright and curious Pippin wouldn't get into some sort of trouble. Hope I don't get interrupted before chapter 5!

Awww, I just love all the fluff! But what about some more Estel/Frodo fluff? There hasn't been that much of it. Or maybe you just spoiled me into wanting more! ;)Update soon!

Another two wonderful fluffy chapters :) I am wondering how long Pippin will NOT bother the ducks. He's a toddler after all :)

Smiles, Smiles and more Smiles!! I am so enjoying this story and needing it's brightness. Thank you a million times.

And I won't chase the baby ducks either.

Is it not amazing how much stuff must be brought along when a child is coming to. Plus with hobbits a lot of food must come too, lucky Estel, he will get fatten up in no time. I imagine Pippin must come up to about the horse's knee. Do horses have knees

“You’re sunshine on the flowers,” Bell said softly, “you always have been."

What a lovely description of Sam. I am very much looking forward to the rest as your stories are always wonderful. This one is hitting a very special spot.

Thank you,
LinweP

Janet,

More squees from me for this chapter (as well as a few 'awws'). I really like your Frodo (especially with Pip--he's *so* patient!). I'm so glad you don't write him as helpless. The scene with Frodo, Pip, & the duck family was just precious (I can remember scenes like that--not with ducks, though--from my own childrens' growing up years).

I also really liked what Bell had to say about Sam and Frodo--Sam brings light to Frodo in countless ways. Mostly, I think, just by being Sam.

I also like Estel's implication that he and the Rangers guard the Shire for other reasons than just because it's what they are commanded to do by Gandalf. I think to know hobbits is to love them.

Oh, and my dog, Hollyn (yes, named for *that* Hollin) wants to know what kind of dog Scamp is. Personally, I think she'd like to invite Scamp to play.

This is a great story. So sweet and I love the puppy! And of course, there's Bilbo. I always enjoy Bilbo.

Another great chapter! I loved all of it, especially the bit with the ducks.

“You’re sunshine on the flowers,” Bell said softly, “you always have been.

What a lovely way to describe Sam and his relationship with Frodo. This was a very sweet chapter. For just a moment, when Frodo put Pippin in his little nest in the cart, I was afraid he was going to leave him alone there. I'm glad Bilbo had the sense to make sure Frodo knew Pippin was too young to be left, in the cart or anywhere else.
