Ah, GW, another good story to add to your treasure-hoard. I love the interweaving of past memories into the present happening, and the eagle's bow--I could just see it. And of course, Sam gives Frodo all the credit. Very much in character. Makes me want to jump into the story and buy that little lad with his nose pressed to the glass a whole bag full of assorted sweets. Thanks for a sweet and gentle read on a day when I could sorely use one. Author Reply: Thank you for this lovely review. I wanted to give Sam the candy too, but sadly, that would make it a completely different story. (Plot Bunny for later, maybe.) I am so glad the bow worked because I could see that in my mind as I was writing this. I just wasn't sure if anyone else would. As to my treasure-hoard, I am only trying to catch up with you on that score. You have so many wonderful stories that I think I have fallen behind.

Wonderful!! You really have the nobility and grandure of the Eagles. I love the wee story about Sam meeting Merry as well. Wonderful! Author Reply: I thought it would be fun if Sam and Merry had met before Sam and Frodo for a change. Thank you for letting me know that it worked. I appreciate your reviews all the more because I love your stories so much! Thank you!

A brilliant story, Grey Wonderer! From Sam with his mother inside the store all the way to young sam listening in wonder to Bilbo's account of the Eagles at Dale. And I mustn't forget the Gaffer's own words of wisdom about heights at the beginning! A Lovely Sam story, GW, written beautifully. Pippinfan Author Reply: Thanks much! You made me blush a bit there. Sam is not usually my main character and so I am glad to know that he came off well. I love him to death, but I always worry that I will write him out of character. Thanks for reviewing this and being so very supportive. (I got Bilbo in this one too! hehehe)

Oh my! That was wonderful! I love the Eagles, and wished more was written of them (and seen of them in the movies, too). And dear Sam is also a favorite - his memories of the lessons he learned from his mother about manners was great. One wishes that was still the norm nowdays with kids...I teach third graders...enough said! :-) It was so good to read about Sam gathering his courage to give honor to the Windlord, only to have that great one give honor (and rightly so) to him. Well done! linda Author Reply: From the moment that I read "The Hobbit", I was in love with the eagles and so I really enjoyed writing this one. It's good to know that others find them so interesting also. From the beginning, I knew I wanted Sam in the story because he is so honorable and I thought that would fit well with the character of the eagles. I am very glad to have a good review from a teacher! I bet you have your hands full with those third-graders, although, I'd rather have that age than the middle school crowd! Thank you for the lovely review.
