| Both couples will grow in their marriages and their love now. And it will be good for Diamond to realize the physical aspects of love from Sam and Rosie. Author Reply: Of course, marriages are shifting and changing/growing all the time -- including in this chapter. I don’t think Pip and Diamond are going to necessarily be spying on Sam and Rosie’s bedroom, though. | |

| Wow! This is a very good story I must say. I stumbled upon this site by accident and your story was the first thing I saw. I read the first two chapters and coulndn't stop. I ended up sitting here all night! Your charater development is superb! I hope you update soon! Please don't ever abandon this fanfic until you have a solid ending. I don't think I could bear it if you never finished! So many good fics end up that way. This one is too good for words. Good luck! Author Reply: Wow! An all-nighter on my fanfic. That is sooo flattering! :) I'm glad it reeled you in after the first two chapters, and thanks for your comments on my character development. It's nice to know that things are working! As for the updates, I am trying to maintain a fairly regular schedule -- it averages out to about once a week -- but, unfortunately, this month's crazy RL schedule is getting in the way, so Chap. 15 won't be up before next weekend at the earliest. I do not intend to abandon this; I know what you mean about fics that just languish there (I found this particularly annoying in another fandom I used to read). I actually have the ending all plotted out -- and have for a while -- it's just the middle that's taking a while to get there. At the moment, it looks like this fic will top out at around 25 chapters. "Too good for words": squee! Thanks for the good luck wishes, too. | |

| Hah, Pippin turns match-maker! (grin) He's happy with Diamond, Merry is happy with Estella, why shouldn't poor flustered Trefoil be happy with Bert? I'm rather bemused with Pip's fascination with Diamond's bosom as well. He's a healthy young hobbit, after all. But seriously, I'm glad you're letting Diamond and Pip take things slow. We're so used to that Hollywood boy-meets-girl, boy-and-girl-have-sex image that we tend to project it into our fanfic. But hobbits are NOT late-20th century Americans. If anything, they're Victorian Britishers. Oh, and I'm glad Diamond is letting go a bit more. She will never be a vivacious chatterbox (it's probably not her nature) but at long last she stopped being so damn scared of making mistakes all the time. She's getting confident as Pippin's wife. Confident enough to throw raisins at her husband in public, any rate. :-) Author Reply: Yes, poor Trefoil. A happy Pippin can actually be slightly dangerous to...well, anyone within range, really, LOL. Glad you find the bosom fascination amusing as well. Pippin does indeed have healthy, um, "appetites." And even though he may be more knowledgeable than Diamond about some things, he is just as inexperienced as she is. I'm glad you appreciate the going slow, too. As another reviewer said, there's a lot more meaning in sex if love has developed first. You're right that it's not in Diamond's nature to be a "vivacious chatterbox" (that's closer to Estella; grin), but she has gained more confidence as Pippin's wife -- and she's gotten to know him a lot better, so well that she can now tell when he's faking being asleep. She's now comfortable enough with him to throw raisins at him (something she probably wouldn't have done even with her family members back in the North Farthing) -- although she probably wouldn't have done it in a setting any more public than with Merry and Estella. (Estella relaxed a little bit, too, but she's probably annoyed that her raisins went to waste and can't be eaten, unlike Diamond's, which she's snacking on as she pulls them out of Pippin's hair.) | |

| This was a delightful chapter! I love how quickly Pippin perked up once Diamond was there to tend him. For all his inability to answer Merry's question of whether he was happy with her or not, he seems to enjoy her company. I especially liked Merry's statement “That every marriage is a mystery, except to the two who are in it.” This is something that we ponder at work, almost everyday, lol. Author Reply: Really? You must have quite the interesting workplace, LOL. That statement was actually one of the main inspirations for the entire story -- it's something I have pondered on for quite a while, as well. Yes, Pippin does enjoy Diamond's company -- he said as much in Chap. 13 -- and he has also been living with her for long enough that he has come to trust her, and to have confidence in her healing abilities. (Part of Merry's problem, of course, is that he only sees Diamond on visits and isn't with her nearly all the time as Pip is.)I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. | |

| This is a wonderful chapter. I adored Merry and Estella's exchange at the end. Author Reply: Thanks so much; I'm glad you liked it. Merry's last line in this chapter is something I have heard that really stuck with me (I tried to get my county reference librarian to track it down for proper attribution, but no such luck -- common wisdom is what she suggested I go with.) It's also a big part of the inspiration for this story...and it only took me 14 chapters to get to it, LOL! | |
