What a fascinating, exciting story, exploring the mostly unknown territory of the Northfarthing and a mystery. I was gripped right from the first chapter and was puzzling right along with the Hobbits what might be reason for the strange happenings. The solutions was interesting, too, especially in combination with such an usual sight as a Ranger resigning his commission, although I have to admit that in my opinion, this part of the story was wrapped up a little bit too quickly and tidily. The style was beautiful, and the alliterations that were strewn in here and there were a very nice touch that fitted right in in the harsh landscape. The tumultuous romance that develops over the course of the narrative, too, finds its counterpoint in the nature it takes place in - I very much like these layers. The outsider perspectives on the Travellers, be it Diamonds or Sancho's (I loved the latter's ruminations about Merry in ch.6) were very poignant and insightful. And your characterisation of Diamond was fabulous. So fiery, independent and strong on the one hand, and on the other, the vulnerability and the ever-present expectation of being hurt, of not being allowed to be her true self.

Oh joy! I had been following this over at Open Scrolls, but couldn't leave reviews! I'm so glad to see it here, and completed! This has been a perfectly lovely story and a great mix of romance and adventure! Thanks for such a nice read! Author Reply: And thank you for reading! The road was long enough, but they dragged me along, laughing the entire way:) Sil

As you know, I have been reviewing this one over on the other site, but i was thrilled to log on and find it here. I just love your Diamond. She is perfect for Pippin. I loved this line: (“Perhaps it’s all that fine fierce fire I’m holding in my arms, because now I know that nothing will stop us from riding away together, even with archers at our heels!” ) Great story and I hope the the wink at the end means you plan to write more. I am wondering about Paladin's reaction to this sudden wedding. I look forward to more of your wondrful stories. Author Reply: Ah, I can never get enough of writing (and reading) about these lads and lasses, so odds are good you'll see more from me before too long:) And of course, trouble is brewing already, as all my bunnies are somewhat Tookish in temperament! So glad to see you here:) Thanks for the kind words! Sil
