Oh, I do love this! It's nice to see the age difference between the young hobbits...I do tend to forget how much younger Saradoc was!

Kaylee

Author Reply: Yes, Saradoc was a few years younger than Esmeralda!

Lovely! Young Drogo and Primula in love. Charming! And I love all the little ones, who we know more as adults, all warm, cozy and falling asleep.

Author Reply: I thought it would be fun to go back in time and show the earlier generation! After all, There were nearly fifty years between The Hobbit and FotR! I'm sure Bilbo had already told his stories numerous times!

That was beautiful! A nice, wee glimpse into Primula and Drogo pre-courtship. You do "moment in time" stories so wonderfully. :-)

Here I sit with an empty mug of egg-nog (it didn't last long!), but I enjoyed this sweet tale nonetheless. :-) On to more Yule stories!

Author Reply: I'm ever so glad you enjoyed it!

No, egg nog never seems to last very long at all!

I couldn't resist reading this when I saw the date. *eeee* Wee Merimac, Saradoc, Paladan AND Esmeralda!!! And to make things even better Primula AND Drogo! Thank you so much for linking this or I would definitely have missed it.

Author Reply: *grin* I should have known you'd like it, with little Merimac in there, LOL!

Oh, what a lovely moment! I can just imagine it-Bilbo telling his tales to a roomful of awed children. It is strange, though, to imagine Frodo's foster-parents and "uncles and aunts" as little children. I'm trying to work my way through here, so I decided just to start at the beginning and read all the ones I haven't read. Then I'll tackle (or finish tackling) "Twice Twenty." :) Off to slip a couple more in!
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Well, you know, it was nearly another sixty years that Bilbo was around, after he returned from his Adventure, and it was almost fifty before he ever adopted Frodo. There was plenty of time for the previous generation to grow up listening to his tales!

I hope that you enjoy them! ((hugs))

That was a really sweet little story. Although I most enjoy reading stories of Pippin, Merry, Frodo, and Sam, it's a nice refreshing change to read about the older generations, especially when they were younger. To see the budding romance between Drogo and Primula and to see little Saradoc and Esmerelda sitting next to each other with little Paladin nearby - *sigh.* So sweet.

Author Reply: Sometimes I just love to explore the upper branches of the family tree a bit, in an effort to understand just what made Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Sam tick. I like to examine, for example, just what the blend was of Took, Brandybuck and Baggins that made Frodo so remarkable. And Pippin's and Merry's own adventurous streak--how much was Brandybuck and how much Took? Which traits were handed down in which line.

I am glad that you enjoyed this. It was good fun to write.

Wow...splendid! This story is so full of loving warmth...I can picture all the wee hobbits hanging on Bilbo's every word, totally engrossed in the weaving of a good tale. I will definitely return for more! Thank you for sharing! :-)

Author Reply: Oh, that's nice to get a review for the first one again. I had fun with that little vignette, and imagining the older generation as children. Bilbo was 111 when he left the Shire, and since he had been spending Yule telling stories at Brandy Hall ever since he came back, that's sixty years of little hobbits listening to him.

A wonderful glimpse at the older generation of our dear hobbits!! I loved it :)

Drogo discreetly rolled his eyes. He had heard the tale many a time, and improbable though it seemed, he tended to believe most of it, if only because it *did* make his older cousin seem a bit foolish.

Mmmm. Lovely. I am being very bad today and reading all of these at work. It certainly is a nice Christmas present for me!

Say, an idea: you might want to take the above sentence and start a new paragraph. It helps the reader understand that the POV has shifted to Drogo.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful Yule vision with us. It warms my heart!

Author Reply: I am so glad that you are enjoying them--even if it is at work.

I fixed that--you are absolutely right.

*blushes* I'm glad I could make you happy!

How fun to see all our 'adults' as kids! I love the idea of Bilbo entertaining them all with his stories. It ties the younger and older generations together.

Author Reply: I can just imagine that Bilbo has been entertaining children at Yuletide in Brandy Hall ever since he returned from his Adventure! Whole generations would have grown up listening to his tales!
