Aw! The poor, confused elfling. He needs a nap. Very good drabble, L. Author Reply: LOL, you might be right, Karri. I think Legolas needs to sleep on this new idea of dwarves appreciating beauty just as elves do. Or ... maybe what the elf *really* needs is to take a walk around Lothlorien. And not necessarily alone either ... ;) LKK

I really like the idea you're working with here. By juxtaposing these drabbles, you're giving us a story in a very economical form. We get plot as well as emotion, exterior events as well as interior. Author Reply: I hadn't looked at the cycle in this way, but I like the idea, daw. Four little chapters joined into one longer story. It's still a short story, only four hundred words. But as you say, a story none the less. I hope that "chapters" three and four live up to the first two. :) LKK

Excellent stuff! Call me obsessed if you will, but I like the way it could equally have been thought by Celeborn ;) I also like the way you don't shy away from Legolas' prejudice. In fact the deeper the prejudice the more remarkable it is that he overcame it in the end. Author Reply: I never thought of that before, but you're absolutely right. Since Celeborn and Legolas share a distant family history, they're apt to share similar opinions regarding dwarves. Gimli's speech surely surprised them both. Celeborn quickly recanted his anger. Legolas is going to take a little longer to come to terms with this new view of dwarves. But then Tolkien only referred to one of those two elves as "the Wise". :) Thank you for the review, Marnie. Lovely! That moment when Legolas doubts his own mind where Gimli is concerned. Really lovely. Author Reply: Thank you, Eruwestial. I'm glad you liked it. I think Gimli's words surprised many elves that night, not just Legolas. :) LKK
