I absolutely love this story! The twins are adorable and I loved the description of their movements. It was soothing, comfortable and warm

So sweet. It was interesting to see what Glorfindel was willing (or not willing) to share with innocent little children. The pet name 'Gofi' was just priceless :)

Your story was recommended by a reviewer for my own fic 'Of Balrogs And Battles'. I really liked this retelling of the story, and especially the relationships between the twins and Glorfindel; and Glorfindel and Elrond. The way Glorfindel slowly drew out what was bothering the twins was great - his care for them came across very clearly.

I thought it very interesting that your Elladan also asked 'Did it hurt?'. Nice story - thank you.

Author Reply: Hallo Jay,

Thanks for reading. This is an old story - the first fanfic I ever wrote in this genre, and at least two years old, so it's always a surprise when someone reads and comments. It just seems natural that the twins would be surprised to discover Glorfindel was the same as in their tale, and wonder. :) Thanks again!

Here is another story exploring the relationship of fathers to small sons. Like “Fearless and Full of Joy,” this story shows the depth of affection the writer holds for such relationships. But “Gofi and the Balrog” is different in that the writer provides a dark undercurrent of danger, pain, and death. That contrasted with the radiance of the love and gave the story an interesting dimension that kept my attention. I note that the writer captures perfectly the characters of the twins as small children. The dialog sounded natural. The detail of Glorfindel’s drawing at the end was an unexpected grace note. Am I sensing a Glorfindel theme here? Best regards – Chathol-linn

I liked this, it was sweet without being too fluffy and almost made me cry, a delicate subject handled in a lovely way. Whether or not you post anymore of your stories on HASA, I think your work is really good.

Hi!

I'm not sure how I have missed this before now...but it was a rare treat and I doubt it will be the last time I come to visit this story...it was so quietly graceful, that I just found myself smiling, inside and out, to read it. The image of the wide-eyed sleep elflings stroking Gofi's (and will I ever be able to think of him as anyone else now?) hand...I just adored this. Such a sweet, lovely story, and yet not without the power the memory and the tale would have over both Glorfindel and the twins. Thanks for this.

Joanna
