The nasty, evil gits!

Poignant, reading Ham's one-sided conversation with Bell.

Aargh, those dratted ruffians! How will the Tooks keep them from taking Tookland acre by acre?

Ah, Pippin's dreams of smoke, how easily explained. But we know that he's in contact with home, somehow.

I love that we're seeing the forming of Fredegar Bolger's rebellion! I always enjoy stories that get into that sort of thing and I'm looking forward to seeing how/when he gets thrown into the Lockholes!

Oh, dear Tookland isn't doing so swell! First the mess wiht them being raised against Paladin and now they are being forced further in! Oh my! And Buckland had better watch out!

That Pippin is having dreams related to these events must be frightening although he doesn't really know what they mean!

Looking forward to more!

"Wrapped in the quilt at night, he was once again wrapped in Bell’s embrace. Touching the shawl and lap-robe was touching her and their Sammy.” - PT

That is so sad...and so lovely! And the Gaffer talking to Belle was a brilliant piece of work. His musings are a fantastic window into the happenings of Hobbiton. I felt like I was there with Ron, Fredegar, Estella, and the rest all meeting together to make a stand. LOL...I would swear as I was reading that I could see the expressions on Nob’s and Toby’s face when Freddie said they had been *inside* the Quarry. The build-up of tension is moving along great...I’m on the edge of my seat, Pearl! Eagerly waiting for the next update... :-)

You're doing a marvelous job showing the unfolding of Fredegar's "revolutionary" spirit: "Freddie opened his eyes and his father flinched at the boldness he saw in them." Hobbits are certainly amazing creatures!

All of it is so heart-breaking and yet it is so wonderful to see how the hobbits work together to hold on in this time of crisis. This part was so touching:

(Touching the shawl and lap-robe was touching her and their Sammy. The lad had saved his own money to buy the yarn for his Mum. "In a nice warm yellow, Mum, ‘n the palest of pinks. Like the sun a shinin’ down all bright ‘n warm on them pink roses you love," was what their lad had said to Bell on his birthday when he gave the gift to her.)

I also liked how Pippin's dreams could be explained by Denethor, though this time, he has little to do with it all. I wonder if Pippin or Merry will come to realize what the dreams mean as Esmeralda did?

Such a wonderful story! More soon, I hope!
