| Very good story with fine craftmanship and characterizaton, save for Pippin saying he was afraid of Boromir. (The books tell us Pippin liked Boromir from the first, admiring him for his kindly and lordly manner) It's good to see Boromir remembered for his true nature. Thanks for a lovely story. | Excellent! and touching. I came to this story looking for Boromir, and found him, but so much more. Terrific characterizations of Gimli, Merry and particularly Pippin, and your poem/song brought a tear to my eye, both for its mix of external, large, threatening but natural imagery and each stanza's bittersweet invocation. Really wonderful. Author Reply: Thank you for the very kind review, Nancy. I'm especially pleased that you though the poem worked -- it was such a dark thing to show up in what was essentially a Christmas fic, but it seemed to belong. | |
