Actually, I thought the lyrics were quite good! Far better than anything I could write in regards to poetry. :) I'm liking this story. So sad, but so good! Author Reply: What a surprise! I had to do a double-take when I got this. I am glad that you chose the more important of the two: school. I agree--one can always come back to a story online. This will probably be my only "dark" tale; it was too taxing on my emotions. As for the poetry, I actually put some time into this one; usually I just throw a bunch of words together--and quite obvious, I'm sure! Thank you for reading! Pippinfan

Oh, so sad! But I'm almost glad that he was finally able to let her go. "If you love something, let it go..." that's how the saying goes, isn't it? Aside from Pippin, the character I feel worst for is Merimas. At least, normally, a healer can distance themselves from a dying patient, but that's not possible when that patient is your niece. One of the many reasons I decided not to become an actual doctor. - Pervinca Author Reply: I'm so glad you keyed in on that--and Merimas! You hit the nail on the head. A long, long time ago I read a story in the Reader's Digest about a preemie NICU. The nurse wrote that one baby desperately clung to life in spite of a host of infections and undeveloped tissue and organs. The parents struggled with the decision, but they eventually gave thier infant daughter permission to die. I was so touched by the story that I did the same with Pippin and Rosebud. I'm in tears. I would suppose you'll hear that a lot. This is such a tenderly, beautifully written tale, it breaks my heart. Yet I know Pippin will come through a stronger, more loving and caring hobbit; gentle and sensitive to the hurts of others. Wonderful. Beautiful. Author Reply: I may hear it from a lot of readers, but I hope you know that it's always most special coming from you. You've been my mentor and dear friend for nigh onto two years - you're stuck with me! :-) Thank you for reading Roses! Pippinfan

Oh my... I don't know how but I keep reading this and I had tears running down my face this chapter... I don't know how Pippin will make it through losing his child but I know one thing Merry MUST stay with him as I am sure his grief may make Pippin want to give up... Poor Merry... I know losing Rosebud too is going to break his heart almost as bad as it's going to break Pippin's... Elbereth, woman, I don't know what keeps me reading this story other than it is so well written and it is a beautiful story though it is so so so so heartwrenching!!!! Author Reply: Wow...I'm speechless. It does happen from time to time! Yes, I desperately wanted to show Merry's anguish as well. He's like Rosebud's second father for all intents and purposes. Absolutely, Merry is going to stay with Pippin...they both need each other's friendship right now. Thanks for reading Roses! Pippinfan

You finally did it. Though I swore I would not, you've reduced me to tears. Great big old teardrops spilling out of my eyes and dripping down my cheeks and into my lap. Oh, dear, you are doing such a lovely job with this story. You break my heart, you do. Simply wonderful. Author Reply: Hullo, pipspebble! You are so sweet to say that. Trust me, I nearly reduce myself to a blubbering mess as I write these chapters! Thanks for reading Roses! Pippinfan

More excellent writing. This is still brilliant, but why is she lingering? Or is she already gone and I didn't catch it? If she's still holding on, I'm not sure I can take much more bittersweetness - it's time for her to go. But I defer to your greater wisdom if you have more incredible moments yet to come first. Thanks again for this story. Author Reply: Thanks, Eruviluieth -- you'll see more of the big picture in the next chapter. Thank YOU for reading Roses! Take care. Pippinfan

I couldn't believe that they thought to tell Pip without Merry present. The two of them together raised the child after Lilas died. It wouldn't have been fair. So glad Pippin insisted and that Merimas backed him up. This will hurt Merry deeply too.It was so sad to watch Pippin let go of his hopes for his child. Your song was lovely. I thought that you did a wonderful job on it. Take care. I will be waiting for more. Author Reply: Well, I thought for as much as Merry helped Pippin with Rosebud, DB only saw Pippin as her Father. She wasn't as close to the situation as Merimas, nor Merry. Pippin knows better though about Merry. You'll see more in the upcoming chapters. Oh, yes, a nice Merry moment is coming up. ;-) Take care, and thanks for reading Roses. :-) Pippinfan

Well, you've done it; I'm crying. This was so sad. Just because I knew it was coming didn't make it any easier. I can't begin to imagine what this is going to do to poor Pippin. I keep having visions of him lapsing into a deeper sickness himself and them nearly losing him, too. Oh, please post 51 soon. I can't stand the wait. I need to know even if it's angsty. Thanks. Connie B. Author Reply: Oy...what can I say? Sorry about the hanky deal...I think. No...the loss of someone so dear is never easy to bear--especially that of an innocent child. Fifty-one is coming soon! Indeed...poor Pippin. Thanks for reading Roses, Connie! Pippinfan
