Lovely story. It's fascinating to read a story about King Thengel's claiming of his throne. There's not many fics based on that. To see it from his daughter's view makes it even more interesting. The culture shock! I like Ellevain; she acts like a child not an overgrown adult. I also like her aunt; she's rather Eowyn-like. Your grammar, research, and spelling were quite good; it's refreshing to read a Tolkien fic that's technically correct, well-written, and within canon after seeing the horrors that plague fanfiction Keep writing! / Namarie! / Loremaster Author Reply: I'm glad you think Ellevain acts like a child, I was afraid she was a little to precocious. Shield maidens don't seem to be all that common so I figured it was likely Eowyn had a recent role model. Thank you for the kind words about my grammar and spelling, two areas I have long had trouble with, (darn progressive education)! :D I'm afraid I don't know any other fics about the Eorlinga family, though I'm sure they exist. My personal explanation for the absence of any mention of the offspring of Theoden's other sisters is that they married back into Gondor and so their children don't live in Rohan. Of course that still leaves Eomund's side of the family....

Ellevain seems to be making a mental adjustment to becoming a Daughter of the Mark. And she is frighteningly intelligent. I look forward to seeing more of her settling into her new role.
