| I love the way the tree is holding Legolas like a throne - very appropriate. They way they are using the opportunity to confess lots of little hidden moments to each other is lovely and, if it weren't for the howler bites, this would be a beautifully peaceful interlude. As it is - I hope you've got some scheme in mind to save our heroes. And that it's not too far off, because Legolas is Not At All Well. Author Reply: I knew I had to do more than just have Legolas commune with the forest as a whole, so I 'gave' him a single tree to embrace him. The four are trying their best to act as they would in normal circumstances. But since it really isn't normal circumstances, I had to add the confessions. None of it can be easy, because in the back of their minds, they still can't forget what's happening to them. No, Legolas is not at all well. Unfortunately, his beloved trees can only comfort him; they can't cure him. | |

| This evening of ordinariness must have been of great value to these four. The spot does sound beautiful. Author Reply: They could think of no better way to spend their last hours than being together and remembering. If I was going to die in a forest, I'd like it to happen in a spot like that one. | |
