Pippin the Troll Slayer  by Auntiemeesh 8 Review(s)

I came across this as Marigolds recommendation in March so I’m a bit late (as in chapter 4) in reviewing. Forgive the lapse.
Hey, you really inspired me to write a short little non-LotR piece on war but that’s beside the point. I wanted to compliment you on the fact that you didn’t just blow off Frodo and Sam being tracked by Gandalf and the Eagles. I’ve read a number of stories where folks don’t even mention it (as can be expected because it’s such a horrible thought that they didn’t survive). You not only mentioned it but you gave your characters a few moments to worry on it.
I also thought Aragorn’s weariness VERY appropriate. Whoa. If there’d ever been a time to try that man’s strength it would have been after that battle.

You seemed to handle all the distances between battle and resting places very well. I, for one, have not been able to figure out who was where when, but I know that not everyone in the Fellowship was in the same place at the same time after the fall of Sauron and so I appreciate that you’ve kept the timeline correct, as far as I can tell ;-) .

Ooooh, and you used “a scratch at the flap of his tent” instead of “a knock” BIG BONUS POINTS in my book.

The point were Pippin begins to come back into the real world was nicely worked. Poor lad. I liked the little hints of recognition that brought him around.

I found it rather amusing that Pippin can not escape whatever evil medicinal brew Strider has concocted no matter what.

That's one of the things I've struggled with the most in this (as well as "Courage"). I'm not sure my distances and timing are terribly accurate, but I've tried to keep them consistent, at least, lol.

Thanks for leaving such a lovely comment. :)

Well written. I can imagine Pippin is indeed feeling quite sick right now.

Author Reply: Thanks. Yes, the poor lad is really suffering right now.

Oh! Our my poor wee brother!!!! Well done thus far . . . carry on :)

Author Reply: Poor Pippin, indeed. The lad is in for some rough times, but with a little help from his friends, he'll come through fine. Thanks for reading. :)

Wonderful! I'm glad to be finding out how things went from Pippin's progression! I'm sure this will all be a little frightening for Pippin, poor thing. I hope the others are able to handle it as well! Looking forward to more!

Author Reply: It's going to be a difficult time for everyone, the next few days of Pippin's recovery. Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you're enjoying this. :)

I love the way you write Gimli and Legolas's concern into this and also manage to show Aragorn's fatigue. So many needed his help at that point, I am very certain that he was nearly over-whelmed by it all. It still goes so well with "Courage".

Author Reply: Poor Aragorn. Everyone must have been looking to their healer king to help all the other wounded and on top of that he had three badly injured hobbits to take care of. It must have been exhausting. :)
