Black Mountain  by White Wolf 8 Review(s)

Hello~~
I'm so glad to have found your stories again! My obsession with LOTR wained for a while, and so I lost all the links to the sites and stories that I had found enjoyable. Recently I started reading LOTR fanfiction again, and you know what came to my mind yesterday? One simple line, "I knew you would feed me."
I have no idea why, but that sentence stuck with me for two years. So, I knew I wanted to read it again, but I had no memory of who wrote it or what was the name of the story, not even where I read it. So, I googled that line. :D
And here I am. And I'm so happy for it. I'm sorry, I know this isn't constructive or anything, it isn't actually even a review about the story.
I just wanted you to know how much I love your writings. :)

Take care,
Nipsyo

Author Reply: You never have to apologize to me. I'm happy you’re back. It's nice that one single line I wrote had such an impact on your memory. I’m always happy to hear people say they love my writing. I've written a lot of new stories, so I hope you enjoy the ones you choose to read as much as the older ones. Thanks for looking me up! :o)

He recovered! Once his white blood cells knew what to do, they did it! And quickly, too.

That moment when he asked for something to eat must have been euphoric for the three who were sitting waiting for him to die.

But I somehow suspect that these four will not now resolve to avoid similar troubles in the future. It would be too out of character! I look forward to their next adventure.

Author Reply: Once Legolas's body produced what it needed to neutralize the poison, his elven healing ability kicked in, and he recovered very fast.

That was a miracle for E3 to get their friend back.

I have the feeling that on the way to Rivendell, they were planning their next adventure. Danger is in their blood (no pun intended).

I hope to start posting Cold Wind soon.

Well done White Wolf! An excellent close to an excellent story! You had the surprises coming every chapter, even if you did use Evil cliffies! I can't wait for Cold Wind. I hope it's as good, if not better than this one! Excitedly awaiting your next arrival! You go dog! (No pun intended)
Galimeril ;D

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I appreciate your very kind words. A lot of people make remarks about my cliffies. I think I'm getting paranoid, however, not enough to keep me from leaving them. :o) I hope you will like Cold Wind, which will be coming soon.

I'm glad to see Legolas recovered. Elrond certainly trains good healers!

Author Reply: It was touch and go for a while, but yes, our dear elf did recover. Elrond is good at imparing his considerable knowledge of healing.

Yes, much better, thanks.

The friend is apparently better, getting along with life twenty years or so after the attempt. But I never completely stop worrying. Life is difficult, and it is so easy to fall into despair, especially if one's loved ones seem to take one for granted, as this person's family does. There was an air of quiet and mostly-concealed desperation, the last time we visited, and yet what do I say to the family?

All I can do is to be as warm and loving as I can, and not let busyness pull me away, too.

clever. Very, very clever.
My thoughts were proven right! he did not die. Although with the whole blood thing- no way could I ever had come up with something like that. Loved the story. Can't wait for Cold Wind.

Author Reply: Thank you very, very much.

I'm glad you were right. I'm also glad I had you stumped. I try not to be too predictable. Cold Wind will be posted in the near future.

Fascinating premise!

You can delete this review if you like, for I'm using it to criticise something that really bothers me. I promise to leave a proper review later.

Please don't have the elf cut across the ranger's wrist, no matter how quickly or shallowly. There are arteries there, and tendons, and nerves... And then to talk about cutting the other wrist... (wince) It sounds all too much like someone I knew who attempted suicide by that manner.

Have him carefully select a vein, and prick the skin, and watch the blood drip into the cup, and then apply pressure until he's satisfied the bleeding has stopped. Please?

Author Reply: First off, I want to say that I hope that the reason behind your friend's desperate attempt at suicide has been resolved, and he/she is now doing well.

I would never delete anyone's honest opinion. The fact is that you are totally right. I realized, after reading your comments, that I should have been more careful about the way I wrote what I did. I think I was a bit taken with myself for the solution I came up with and didn't think the whole thing through regarding how it might make people think of someone cutting a wrist to end their life. The thought that it upset you makes me sad. My story may have involved angst, but it is fantasy and was meant purely for entertainment. I was trying to make the wrist-cutting a good thing, because of what it would do to save Legolas.

I went back and rewrote the part in question, using your suggestion. Please reread that section. If I messed up the rewrite, please let me know, and I'll work on it some more.

Thank you for your opening comment.
