See? I am reading. This is not my usual fare, but it is well written and interesting to read. I like the idea of Gandalf having known love. Consider me a romantic at heart, but I am fond of playing matchmaker for the Fellowship - at least those who don't have their romances exlored in canon. This is quite enjoyable.

Wow, I love Gandalf and Elrond in the same story. And it's a brave author who delves into the mind of Gandalf! What a fascinating exploration of what makes him so unique and special. I love his insatiable curiosity about the Quendi, and the glimpses of his life in Valinor are delightful.

Well I have to say I was really skeptical of the "Love for Gandalf" challenge at OSA but you have made a wonderful start with this. I love the beginning with poor Elrond feeling Celebrian's presence/absence so strongly. You really portrayed that well. I like how you used that to set up Gandalf's memories. I like your Elrond. And Gandalf surrounded by the wine glasses was pretty funny. :) But the part I liked best was the conversation between Gandalf and Nienna (great choice, by the way. Such an interesting character). Loved this: "All life requires sacrifice," replied Nienna. "All creation requires some measure of hardship. For one song to be heard, others must fall silent, lest there be discord. Every craftsman must, in some small way, be diminished as he fashions his creations. So it is with life. And the scenes with Finwe and Feanor were very well done. Certainly a good choice of characters to illustrate what Gandalf is trying to understand. I definitely like your beginning. Off to the next chapter. :)
