What a lovely tale! A wonderful salute to Pip's courage, and Merry steadfastness. I like the way you included the details of Legolas examining his arrows, and Merry his sword - adding a nice note of realism and immediacy to the tale. I'll have to remember to try that myself, sometime. Thanks!

I liked seeing a fiction with Merry and Legolas together for a change. It made for a very nice conversation. You don't often see them written together. I also like the insight that Merry gained from Legolas about the Palantir and what had actually happened to Pippin.

A very gentle respite in a terrible war. Well written and excellent images. Author Reply: Thank you...I like your insight there. After the intensity and violence of the palantir incident, a respite is much needed, I thought. And I'm glad that the images were clear.

that... was beautiful! I love stories that give you moments in time that no doubt would have happened but Tolkien did not enter them in his writings, it feels so real and natural that acts such as that would occure... btw, I should love to see the interchange between Merry and Gimli as his sword is repaired, if you have not thought it already... Author Reply: Oh, my! Thank you for such a compliment as saying that it felt as though it belonged. And thanks for the story bunny...darn it! I thought I was done writing this week for a bit... :)

I very much enjoyed that, Songspinner. I always enjoy a good Legolas fic, and this one had a nice insight to my favorite elf. I like seeing the interaction between elves and hobbits. Thanks for the window. :)

I loved this at the Challenge site. It held up just beautifully to a second read here. It's so nice to see a Legolas and Merry moment for a change.

I just wanted to say that I LOVED this story. Merry is my favorite character and I always wanted to know more about how things went with him after Pippin and Gandalf departed for Minas Tirith, not to mention how me felt after Aragorn and the others departed on the eve of battle. This is a wonderful fill-in, and a nice, quiet moment between Hobbit and Elf...filled with affection and fellowship. Thanks for sharing it with us! :) Author Reply: Yeah, that little extra bit in the ROTK EE with Aragorn and Merry was wonderful, but I felt that later it would really be hitting our little hobbit. And somehow, that bit of fellowship felt right. Thank you for the compliments and I'm glad that it worked so well.
