Earendil has always been one of my heroes, how he really did give up everything to go and seek aid for Middle Earth. This chapter has only made me appreciate him more. It's sad, in a way though, that Elrond had to grow up without such an amazing father figure, even though he had wonderful adults who stepped into that role. And of course, Elrond himself is a wonderful father to Elladan and Elrohir. I love watching him take care of and nurture his elflings. Hopefully Elrohir's arm doesn't hurt too badly, but I think they will still enjoy Glorfindel's lesson tomorrow ;)

You are making this so understandable that this ADD person could cry! I'm having trouble with the names, always my bane with this stuff. I'm not as sharp as those twins. I'll need a few reads to get it. I LOVED the review. And I loved Daddy's hug making his baby feel better. All us parents pass healing energy onto our children. ;) Thanks so much for putting in that mention. Author Reply: It is interesting to sit back and think of the things a parent does for a child, things the child may never know, much less appreciate, and yet when they feel better or give you that special hug, its all worth while. :D I can send Glorfindel over to drill you on names - I think he probably has some great techniques!

Whew! I wouldn't argue with that elf-lord either!:) I am thoroughly enjoying watching Elrond be "daddy" to these two little ones. And Glorfindel the teacher - good comprehensive review, to the point, and then on with the story...and it is getting really good! Once again, thank you for a well-written chapter.... linda

You could easily call these 2 chapters Silmarillion for Dummies--even I was able to follow that story! ;-D As for the twins--they're kids. Babies all play, all have things to learn, and all try the patience of their elders at some point. What I'm saying is, they act like kids, and that is perfectly normal. Author Reply: Thanks, Khazar. I promise for the most part they are well behaved children - it has actually been interesting to consider the development of an elf-child - how fast they grow in body vs mind, and fun especially to think of these little tiny bodies speaking words that would seem older to a mortal. I think an ideal elf-childhood would be prolonged and merry, with doting adults enjoying these carefree years.

Nilmandra! I do so love this story. Little Elladan and Elrohir are priceless, and when you read the story you really feel the love that Elrond bears for his two young sons and his passionate desire to provide for them all the love and security that he lacked as a young Elfling. I laughed out loud at Elladan's grasp of the family tree! Well, it's pretty much true too! Your grasp of the Silmarillon is helping to sort in some order the things I remember from my first and (to date) only reading of the Sil. Thanks, MM Author Reply: You are so kind to review all my stories like this! The twins were not supposed to such a great role in this story, but they showed up and acted adorable and made themselves comfortable - I could hardly ask them to go. The story is long, but I hope you like it. Chapter 20 is percolating - slowly.
