| Whoa! The Ring sanks its barbed talons so deeply into that dear soul and when it was pulled out with such violence, there was nothing left but a bleeding, gaping hole. No wonder all was dark and empty, being so terribly violated, nothing but agony and guilt and shame and despair. The deepest scars are the ones no one can see. It's a wonder he pulled out of this, and a wonder Rose can speak of it so calmly. The agony of that soul and a mind and heart pushed beyond endurance to cut himself like that and try to kill himself because he didn't think he deserved to live. You did not fail, darling! You said "I will take the Ring" and you did. You did not say you would destroy it. Don't blame yourself for what was then impossible for your will - or any will but God's - to accomplish then. I know I would feel the same, but it's not right! Grace saved you then and I think it's the only thing that can save you now. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) | |

| Oh so very angsty! Poor Frodo, poor everyone! I am so glad that you are doing this with flashbacks, so that we know there *is* a light at the end of the tunnel...I don't think I could bear it otherwise. Author Reply: I think that was why I did it as a flashback, otherwise it would be too terrible. Poor Frodo goes through such horrors but we can comfort ourselves that while Rose is telling the story he is just along the corridor, getting drunk! | |
