Nice of you to not kill Legolas *g*. Another very good chapter, keep up the good work.

Thank you, Ophium. Hope others are as happy as we are that our favourite elf is alive.

A weak, warm, scented breeze rippled the air, almost imperceptibly, wafting to him and sighing around him. Gently, gently, it brushed his hair and whispered against his ears, feather-like and soft. How very elven!

I like how Aragorn stays still and waits for that 'connection', giving Legolas a chance to respond rather than rushing into danger himself.

And the reactions amongst the men was quite typical and realistic, especially Poras' attempts to brush off his own over-reactions. Well done, again!

I'm glad you sense the elven-ness in the connection; it's such an important element in this story.

Amusing how you agreed with my decision to make Aragorn wait rather than rush on to the plain, while another reviewer - at another site - wanted to kick Aragorn into action lol! (The reviewer did quickly say that she understood the shcok the Ranger was in, though.)

Thanks again for the review, Leaward.

Wow. Your description of Aragorn's crushing grief was original and effective, and beautifully written. The spiritual connection between him and Legolas has been very interesting all along; it was a lovely touch using it to rekindle Aragorn's hope. The way you handled the scene with Legolas' captors was also well done. Their concern is for their own welfare and the elf is only a critical commodity. Their limited medical knowledge was very believeable. I love it that you trotted out the old breath-on-the-mirror trick, especially the way you first made it look like the man was going to harm Legolas with the knife. This was a very engrossing, dramatic chapter. I'm eager for the next! TF

Thank you, TithenFeredir, for letting me know what you found effective. I'm glad you feel the connection and interaction between the two characters as much as I do - it is, after all, the theme of the tale, and the thread that should run through everything, so I pay it special attention. :-) THe "old breath-on-the-mirror trick" was actually inspired by Tolkien himself - remember how Imrahil found out that Eowyn was alive? ;-)

I will try not to let the next update take too long. I look forward to hearing from you again.
