awwwww! I like it when we get to see Gimli be sentimental! :) Touching story, ST. I love getting peoples "insights" into characters. I really enjoyed this. :) Author Reply: Thanks, Dayna! Yup, Gimli can be sentimental, even though he doesn't always like to admit it. I'm glad you liked this, and thought it was "touching" - thanks! :)

What a lovely story! Of course there would be need for a dentist after the battles they saw! “I do not know why you are troubling yourself with me, Pippin,” Gimli said gruffly. He knew that Pippin had meant not to leave Merry’s side until he absolutely must, and he felt guilty that he was the cause of another separation, however brief, for the cousins. Pippin gave him a baffled look. “We’re friends, Gimli. You would do the same for me – you did more, you know, by trying to rescue Merry and I from the orcs, in case you had forgotten.” “Hmmph.” Gimli hid a smile, not wanting to reveal how touched he was by the hobbit’s words. You have captured my vision of Pippin so perfectly, well, actually all the hobbits. So pure of heart, such good and dedicated, loyal friends, yet concerned for others. And even Gimli, who softens up and yet doesn't want to reveal it. “You’ll feel a bit of pressure,” Belecthor warned, You MUST either work for a dentist or have just been to a dentist when you wrote this. WHY do they ALWAYS say 'pressure' ... It always feels like more than just pressure to me! Very well done. I thoroughly enjoyed your story and I'll look for your next one! Author Reply: You have captured my vision of Pippin so perfectly, well, actually all the hobbits. Thank you so much, Leaward! To me, that is the greatest compliment! You MUST either work for a dentist or have just been to a dentist when you wrote this. WHY do they ALWAYS say 'pressure' ... It always feels like more than just pressure to me! It certainly does! I don't know why they say pressure, but the same line was told to me when I had my wisdom teeth taken out. It definitely felt like more than just pressure, and I sympathized with poor Gimli here :) I'm so glad you liked this story - thanks for reading! :)

This is just as sweet and touching the second time around as it was when I read it at the Challenge site. This time, though, I noticed more of the lovely details you put in. I think this will be a story I re-visit often. Author Reply: Thanks for taking the time to read and review it twice! It means a lot. I'm trying to be much more detailed in my writing, so I'm very excited that you noticed! :)

Ah, you succeeded well in your challenge. A dental chair in Minas Tirith--who'd a thunk? Well written and believable, and characterization in keeping with the originals--and you even managed to work in the Tooth Dwarf! That gave me a chuckle. Author Reply: Thank you very much, Larner! Let's just say that I'm so thankful that the good Professor let us know that the people in Minas Tirith were medically advanced. If that weren't the case, poor Gimli would have had a much more traumatic experience! I love when people say that I've got the characterizations right - it's a huge compliment, so thank you for that. And as for the Tooth Dwarf - well, I couldn't help but include it when Marigold gave me my starter! :)
