| Right. If only Sam knew! But poor fellow. | Poor Sam is the odd-hobbit out! I wonder what he would think to know that the three cousins all preferred and shared one bed instead of using separate ones. I guess it's in part the difference between those that are only children and those that are one of many (I know Pippin has three sisters, but he is the only lad). How wonderful to see Frodo so happy and content for a change. This shows how much comfort he derives from his younger cousins. lol! I've used more words in this review than you did in your entire drabble and not said anything nearly as eloquently or poignant as you did! Author Reply: He might have been somewhat surprised. He'd had his own bed for a while, but you don't really get over those early patterns of behavior. They are a very great comfort to him. I've done the same reviewing drabbles I like. It's harder to keep a review under a hundred words than it is a story, LOL! | |

| Oh, I find I truly like this one, Dreamflower--the assumptions about the gentry and the reality being no different from Sam's own experience. Author Reply: Yes, I was thinking about that, how Sam would have shared his bed with his big brothers until they went away, simply because that's what his family would have done. Not realizing that even though they all had their own beds, Frodo and his cousins would still like to snuggle up for companionship and comfort. | |

| Sometimes every one needs a bit of company at night. These have all been so good and I am enjoying this a great deal. But a question. What is this challenge that these come from and are there a group of stories by various authors posted somewhere? (greedy for more stories.) Just wondering if there was a challenge site on this. I am enjoying all of your so much and I am curious. Author Reply: I'm glad you are enjoying them. The stories are for an LJ Challenge community called 20_rings. There are two sets of twenty themes, and the challenge is to do something for each theme, using all the same characters for one set, and then another set of characters for the second set, for a total of forty stories altogether. It's really fun, and quite a challenge. | |
