| Oh, I'm so glad I found this one! I love the idea that this encounter might have been what drew Gandalf's attention to Bilbo many years later! "Would-be thief" indeed! Little did he know he'd grow up to be Burglar Bilbo! I hope I can find the other one... Author Reply: Thank you! | Never before have I read of Child!Bilbo! I am utterly charmed. This sounds so like the Bilbo we know later in his life, and I can just see Gandalf storing away this little hobbit's adventure for future consideration. We never learned how Bilbo and Gandalf became friends, but perhaps this is a glimpse into why Gandalf chose him to go on a journey with the Dwarves? Absolutely delightful ficlet. | Ah--what a start for the honored Burglar Baggins! Love the first sight of Gandalf and Bilbo together at one of the displays done for the Old Took. Author Reply: Thank you!
