| Oh, these are so sweet! I don't know which I like best! Merry learning to swim is adorable; Sam just beginning to learn to read is reminiscent; and I wonder how Eglantine reacted when she found out her little one had been up a tree. :) God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: I tried to think of what would be one of Frodo's more important life lessons to each of them. | Here it is - finally! This is a short and simple story, but one I really enjoy a lot. To see Frodo help shape and mould Merry, Sam, and Pippin's development. He really was an integral part of all of their lives. All three of these pieces are so sweet and straight forward. They all show how the three younger hobbits all looked up to Frodo and trusted him so much. It helps show why they all thought he was so special. I think I'll read it again right now! Author Reply: Frodo's influence and care and love for the three younger ones is crucial to my understanding of their relationship. It does go to show that the love and trust between them all was mutual, and one of the reasons was all the love and care Frodo had shown each of them from their earliest days. | |

| Love Frodo as the teacher to the others, leading each to take steps on their own, whether swimming, reading, or climbing, all to try to be with him more fully. Author Reply: I thought this would suit the theme of "beginning"; I could so see him patiently teaching the young ones. And yes, they are motivated to learn for the sake of being with the one they love. | |

| These are lovely! Each one is just perfect for the little hobbit involved, and so is Frodo's understanding of them as individuals : ) Author Reply: Thanks. I tried to choose each lesson as something special that I was sure Frodo would have taught that particular youngster, whatever else he taught them. | |
