| So, Beregond hm? That doesn't sound good. I can see why Faramir doesn't tell him. He'd be like Galadriel, not knowing whether what he does makes something that he's not sure of more or less likely to happen. But Beregond is right. Something odd is going on here. For one thing, who's organizing those orcs? I assume Faramir is trying to keep Beregond out of some unknown danger by keeping him home. I'm not sure Beregond appreciates that! So a new power arises, eh? Were those dragons or some other beasts? "Parley, parley, who invented this parley?" "That would be the French." LOL. Sorry. I had a little Pirates of the Caribbean moment there. Author Reply: Yup! Beregond. And you're absolutely right on everything you said about making something more or less likely to happen. But, the ironic thing is that by making the choice for him, Faramir is taking an action that could also make something more or less likely to happen! Those poor guys... Nope, not dragons. If I recall correctly, Smaug was the last of the Dragons. But, they do have something to do with something we've all seen before. Whether or not the characters (and thus anyone reading the story) will ever fully figure it out remains to be seen, but they are something specific. Le hannon ah bado na siidh. ^_^ Berz. | |

| Ai...I'm becoming increasingly annoyed with ff.net. If not for the number of reviews I got there, I wouldn't even bother... I have to side a bit with Beregond here; Faramir's nuts for going to battle while his wife is in labor with his firstborn! Though I suppose it would have been really bad for him watching his brother die. Poor Iorlas... I liked him. Though I suppose a war has to have casualties. And down to the depths whatever muttonhead thought up par...um, wait. Wrong fandom. Hadoriel doesn't strike me as a 'Sue-type; for Elves, the cool battle-moment was very fitting, and she obviously has her character flaws (such as her lack of knowing when to keep her mouth shut. :D ) So I think you're safe for the moment. ;) And you do a wonderful job of describing both the new city and the battle. Author Reply: Yay! I got someone to like the cannon-fodder character! Woo hoo for Iorlas! Poor guy didn't get a chance to develop into a terribly well-rounded character, but he's been poking at me, bearing some WotR plot bunnies lately, too. Maybe he'll end up with a story of his own some day. Not bad for a guy whose purpose in the story was to get canned, eh? Glad to hear that about Hadoriel. I've bee playing her for a good year and a half, so she's something of a force to be reckoned with in my head. And you're absolutely right about the keeping her mouth shut thing. One of the other characters in the D&D group has actually started calling her "mommy" just to get on her nerves! But, I do hope someone will tell me if she gets too Sueish.
