| This was a pretty little vignette, but a little disapointing as I saw it as only portraying the most characteristic aspects of the characters. Author Reply: It was just meant as a little slice of life sort of thing, and not necessarily to have much of a plot. One of the things I wanted to do was explore the little avenue of education in the Shire--something I had begun to be interested in, and was trying to incorporate into other things. So I just sort of dipped my toe here. The other thing was to deal with the topic of "food" which was the assigned theme--hence the excuse to write a recipe fic, which I adore to both write and read. I don't think there are nearly enough of them around, and I like to encourage them! | |

| I so love these quiet, peaceful stories. Frodo helping Pippin with math, Sam getting to join them for a while, all the lads making tea for Bilbo--wonderful! :) God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: The quiet, peaceful ones are among my own favorites. | Another recipe fic! I'll have to try this recipe out, too. What a thoughtful idea of Frodo's for them to make the tea as a surprise for Bilbo. They really are good lads. I'm glad Sam stuck around to partake of the tea since he made the mushroom soup, though I wish we had the recipe for that, too. However, I do wish he could have continued on with his lessons, although of course that was quite impossible under the circumstances. Author Reply: It's a good one. I need to make some more myself. Hobbits are pretty comfortable in the kitchen, and I'm sure that the idea of preparing tea was only natural for them. But yes, they are good lads. Well, Sam just had to, didn't he? And you are correct. Once he had the increased responsibilities, he'd nave no more time for lessons. | |

| *sigh*...you have a wonderful talent with writing your hobbit lads--and I enjoy them so much. I like to bake, hope you don't mind I printed out this page for the recipe. | Aha--another recipe story. And no real mess to it, for a change, even with Pippin involved. Author Reply: I love recipe fics. What can I say? *grin* Maybe just a little bit of flour spilled and a few raisins. But no real mess, not with all three of the others there to keep an eye on him. | |

| Oh how lovely! Hobbits in the kitchen - I love this. I love to read stories about them just messing about and being hobbity, and you have really captured our favourite hobbits in their exuberant youth. Wish I could be there with them. Thank you, Dreamflower! Author Reply: I, too, love hobbits in the kitchen, as you can probably guess from most of my stories, LOL! And I will take any excuse I can get for recipe!fic. *grin* I like that phrase: "exuberant youth".
