Wrong smial and wrong well, I hope? Wonderful words from Merry to Eglantine.

Now that's a cliffhanger! What happend to Pippin? At least he has not drowned, but did he manage to get out of the well on his own? I daresay that might be possible for our Pippin! Remember Bilbo's words.
Frodo has a real bad time here, remembering how his parents died and being forced to face the fact, that this could have happend to his little cousin.
I hope there will be an update soon.

I have decided to read this story first and after that "At the end of his rope". I just think this way it is much more thrilling :)

Thank you!

Author Reply: The "well" cliffhanger is now resolved by the latest posting, so I dare to answer reviews to this one without fearing giving away spoilers!

Yes, this is very difficult for Frodo, but he's already showing his courage at this point in his life. Probably one of the reasons Bilbo called him "one of the finest hobbits in the Shire".

Well, it certainly *will* be thrilling! The Interludes will continue to be cliffhangers, all the way to the end of the story (which is tentatively titled "Postlude").

Thanks, and I hope to read your thoughts on "At the End of His Rope" when you get to it.

Those six years passed quickly! But they still make young Pippin rather too young to be swanning off and falling down wells - perhaps Folco wasn't the best choice of guardian for him. Pippin apparently already needs a full squad of the escort to keep him reasonably free from trouble.

It's a good thing Folco blundered into those brambles where he did - or else the cavalry might never have been called to the rescue. At least Woodruff has a better sense of direction than the young'un.

And it is just so typical that everyone is too busy to listen to what they are saying until Woodruff gets more precise. I like all the hobbits and ponies rushing off to try to save the lad - but what has happened to him? At least I know he hasn't drowned - but they'd better find him pretty quickly. Wells and six-year-olds don't mix terribly well.

Author Reply: The years *did* pass quickly! There are probably lots and lots of untold stories that unfolded during that time, wouldn't you think?

LOL, I think Folco is perhaps just a little slower-witted than his young cousin. Especially when I think of the honey incident...

A full squad of the escort... y'know, Faramir already had an escort, from the time he was four, and look at all the trouble *he* managed to get into!

And now, if you've read tonight's update, you know what happened to the lad. (I don't know if it's "wells and six-year-olds" so much as it's "wells and Pippin")

Thanks!

Not fair! (though life isn't fair) I do hope you will post the next interlude and regular chapter soon ;)

Gosh, this is sooooooo good :)

Author Reply: You are so encouraging!

Oh, I wish I could remember what happened in this instance. I may have to go back and read that part of "In the Greening...".

Hope you get enough time on the computer soon to post an update or two.

Thanks.

Connie B.

Author Reply: Well, if you haven't got around to "Greening" you'll be happy to see the new chapter that just posted. One less cliffhanger to worry about. (The interludes are another story, but I'm pretty sure you know how *that* will come out)

Thanks!

Fortunately, I do remember this from your others or this would be a cliff hanger indeed! I felt so sorry for Falco and for Frodo in this chapter. Both were in such terrible positions. I look forward to more. I have been reading along, but I haven't reviewed for a while. I shall try to do better from here on out. I just need more time off from my silly job so that I may read and review properly.

Author Reply: Well, was glad to read your review! Thanks so much for taking the time.

Must be awful to have the charge of a little cousin and have such a terrible accident happen... happily the outcome is not as bad as it might have been.

(hoping for a little more time off from your silly job...!)
