| *tears* O Lin! That is truly the most beautiful poem from Sam to his dear master that I have ever read. The structure is perfect, the lines so very poignant, expressive of love and grief without being overdone or making one feel desolate just to read it. | Just received "A Breath..." and am catching up on a few of your older ones which I had not gotten to, yet. This is heart-tugging. it could indeed be any of the friends, especially Sam. I, too, enjoy the happy-ending AUs. But Tolkien's sad endings give me a hope that our own bitter-sweet lives are not entirely without light and hope. Nicely done! | |

| This is most likely from Sam, but could be from any of them, I suppose. And you say you don't like Grey Havens segments? Lovely. Author Reply: You're right, this was Sam's, though the first part could have been any or all. No, I really don't like Grey Havens segments. I've always regretted that Frodo had to leave the Shire, you see. I even wrote an AU where he stayed, and lived happily ever after! | |
