very nice chapter and endearing, besides you know the *pain* the comforting and friend values always excel in your stories.

Right, you... you've had plenty of warnings, this is it. Hand Frodo over before he gets *really* sick under your "care"... ...oh, but I do want to know what he found... ...and you do write such caring protection, and he does have Aragorn and Bilbo *and* Merry... ...and of course there's darling scamp... ...alright, then, but this is your *last* warning... ... honest...

One more review for this chapter . . . . I have to review Elwen's review. Have I mentioned how much I love this story, and the whole SoA group of readers and writers? What a wonderful community. Now that Halbarad's nicely nestled in and taken care of, I want to join in on Elwen's refrain, bang my spoon on the table, and chant "Fro-do! Fro-do!!!" Please consider yourself besieged. "Fro-do! Fro-do!". . . . We hope you update soon! Hugs and backrubs for your poor aching typing muscles, Esamen

i love the way you managed to even out the hobbit and ranger angst - halbarad is in pain, then merry is upset. of course he recieved lots of comfort, which is how the wrold should work :) and i'm guessing frodo isn't going to be as well as he thinks regarding the scratches! thatnks for answering the question about the events in bcop. if it works for the story, it works for me.

I guess Merry needs to learn to deal w/ little things like watching broken ankles be set if he later has to see his own cousin stabbed by a Ringwraith! <>< Saved from sin through Christ, MJ

This is a lovely chapter, shirebound! Your hobbits are such delightful hosts, if you like cozy houses and lots of good food (sounds like a great bed and breakfast!). Scamp shows his stalwart side, and Frodo shows his ability to keep to the point regarding Estel and hereditary chieftains. I hope that he gets to ask the Rangers how they deal with unsatisfactory chieftains! *checks Frodo for signs of fever or delirium* Amy

Oh yes! Shire pups as honorary Rangers! And by the time this is done I think we'll have a few more honorary hobbits among us. :D

Having gone through my share of orthopedic surgeries, I could so feel for poor Halbarad when Aragorn set his ankle. As shook up as Merry and Frodo were, it was probally for the best they were there to distract Halbarad as much as they were able to. And count on Scamp for sticking by someone who needs her. What a loyal and compassionate lil pup. Sounds an awful lot like a certain Ranger I know. ;o) W/out a doubt Scamp should be an honourary Ranger. :o) Looking forward to more of this delightful story. I love this universe and I adore your Aragorn!! Can I borrow him? :o)

I can see it now--Eregiel's hounds descended from Scamp of the Shire! Lovely thought! Honorary rangers indeed!

Another wonderful chapter! I adore Frodo and Merry's compassion here (and Scamp's as well!) and I love how you described Crickhollow and Frodo's efforts to prepare for his guests. But you've been ending each chapter so ominously! I'm still very worried about Frodo...
