The Road to Edoras  by Dreamflower 8 Review(s)

Poor little Bergil! He`s just a child and of course he misses his father. This is lovely Dreamflower, did I ever tell you that?

I love your Gimli and Legolas, lol. They`re so eat ease with each other, joking and making gentle fun of each other.

I bet Viola won`t have too much objection to being taught how to swim if Berilac does it...;)

Author Reply: Thank you. *blushes*

He does miss his father, especially being sick and hurt.

Gimli and Legolas have already become best friends. I see them joking and poking fun at each other a lot the way Merry and Pippin do.

Who says Berilac is going to teach her?

Bergil!!!! Hurry with the next chapter please, I am on pins and needles!

Author Reply: Soon as I can, dear. I've got to be back at work tomorroow, though.

So, our nasties are typical criminals, ascribing to Berilac the desire to drown them, ascribing their own self-centeredness to everyone else. Typical, typical!

Author Reply: Yes, typically nasty, especially Clovis. Actually, the other three are probably too terrified at the prospect to ascribe anything. But Clovis has never yet learned to keep from opening his mouth and letting his brains fall out.

Poor Bergil! I do hope that he isn't too terribly ill. I wonder if it is difficult for Poppy to work on my of the big folk because of the size difference? I wondered about that when Bergil was first in need of having his ribs bandaged in the last chapter. I guess now he and Pippin can compare notes on what it feels like to suffer through broken ribs once they see each other again. I was surprised that Bergil included the prisoners in his swimming lessons or was that Freddy's idea? That should make things very interesting indeed. I look forward to more of this.

Author Reply: Bergil's in for lots of TLC.
Poppy is going to have to make *some* adjustments for size, but I am sure she and Viola are up to the task, even if they have to get help from some of the Men.

LOL! I hadn't thought about that! But as soon as he's well enough, I would bet Bergil does!!

I think that it was Freddy's idea to include the prisoners, though I don't suppose Beri will object--the idea is safety, after all.

I love the hobbits' reaction to swimming, can't wait to see how they go with the lessons. Poor Bergil, it's often easy to forget he's still very young and far from home. I hope he is better soon and that YOU update soon!

Author Reply: They didn't exactly take to the news with enthusiasm, did they? *grin*

Bergil's only eleven; true, he's a mature eleven, but still very much a child.

PS: Forgot to say - poor Bergil. This doesn't sound good. Being sick and far from home is pretty bad. I hope Poppy and Viola manage to offer him mothering as well as medicine. And stories about Pippin wouldn't come amiss.

Author Reply: Yes, the poor lad misses his father and home right now. Poppy and Viola will take good care of him...

And stop that...just...stop...peeking over my shoulder...
*grin*

I have a sneaking feeling that Freddy wouldn't have minding forgetting the swimming conversation. Good think that Berilac is obstinate.

Maybe one of the men should do the swimming lessons for the non-hobbits, though. I don't think Berilac or the New-Bankses need to listen to them - and it's a bit difficult to learn to swim when bound.

Maybe Poppy needs to whip up a respectable outfit for ladies to swim in. (“It will be all right, dear. Just think of it as medicine.” Heh, heh - good line.)

I like Gimli refusing to let Legolas appear curious. Not that he needs to - I'm sure he can be far enough away to look unconcerned, yet still hear - with his super-elfy senses.

Author Reply: I don't know if he would have completely *forgotten* it, but he might have managed to er, "table" the suggestion for a while. He does understand and agree on the safety aspect, but when it comes right down to it, he's not keen on the idea. But Beri is a Brandybuck. (Can you imagine *Merry* letting him off the hook?)

Now, now, stop peeking over my shoulder...

A respectable outfit, huh? *giggle* Hadn't thought of that...

I'm sure Legolas heard the whole conversation. But Gimli is never going to let him forget his blunder when he butted into Merry's love-life...Hey, that's what friends are for, right? LOL!

Poor little Bergil! It must be hard to get ill so far from home!
Loved it how decidedly Beri took over about the topic of swimming lessons. And Viola ... *grins* ... I look forward to Beri giving her lessons!
Hm, the prisoners as well? Against their will? That will be interesting. I wonder what will happen then. Somehow I suppose this will not be entirely uneventful.

Author Reply: He's definitely wanting his daddy right now, poor chick. It does have to be very hard on him.

Berilac is feeling quite strongly on the subject. I think Freddy really scared him--he would have been stuck with being in charge if something had happened to Freddy. But who says *Beri* gets to give Viola her lesson? *evil grin*

Well, the effort will be made. The hobbits don't *like* the prisoners, and would prefer to ignore them as much as possible, but they will be keeping their physical well-being in mind anyway.
