Yes, I've often imagined myself that Pippin must have found Eowyn a bit formidable, at least in the beginning. I imagine Eomer was quite a handful too--and find it amusing that she was the one to subdue him! Author Reply: From Bodkin: I don't imagine Pippin would have remained intimidated for long - after all, he has learned to manage three older sisters, Tooks the lot of them! As for Eomer - I get the feeling he was one who would be ferocious towards enemies and indomitable with male friends, but putty in the hands of the females in his life and very gentle with them. Eowyn would have been able to run rings round him.

No, I suppose he WOULDN'T think of trying to get by Eowyn, particularly after that story. Although that Eomer had learned to give in to her will so quickly certainly speaks of her decision to ride to war in spite of all orders to stay home and watch the folks there. She's quite the Mary Poppins of ME, I think. Heh! Author Reply: Author Reply from Bodkin: The White Lady doesn’t have quite the bedside manner of the apple-cheeked one! No spoonsful of sugar to help her medicine go down. I think Pippin has enough experience of sisters to know when it’s not wise to give them any trouble. In fact, on reflection, that’s probably something he’s got in common with Éomer. (Who is, actually, a year younger than Pippin.)

To dream of disobeying Merry's favourite Shield-maiden? I should think not! *g* Author Reply: Author reply from Bodkin: Well, Pippin has three older sisters – I should think he has a pretty good grasp of just how far you can go with the lasses before your life is endangered!

Well done! It sounds the sort of tale Eowyn would tell, very 'to the point'. Author Reply: Author's Reply from Bodkin: Even if she wasn’t in her Witch-King slaying gear, I think Pippin would think twice before messing with the White Lady. He knows his limits! And her bedside manner leaves him in no doubt that she’s no pussycat, even if her storytelling doesn’t.
