| This is a wonderful story of the famous scarf. Someone should scout around and find out how many different versions of the origins of the scarf have been written - I know I wrote one :) Author Reply: from Dreamflower: I know I've read at least three others: one in which Pippin's mother made it, one in which one of his sisters made it, and one in which Frodo himself made it. | I loved this one before and love it still now. A beautiful story, and I hope that one day we might have a peek at someone finding that grey and blue scarf somewhere, and giving it as another memorial to Pippin, perhaps. Lovely story. | So wonderfully sweet. Someone else wrote a piece about one of Pippin's sisters making the scarf for him. This one so nicely bonds the cousins together.Lovely! It is one of those little things from the films where it has enhanced the original, rather than detracted from it. There was just *something* about the way he had managed to hang on to it through all their trials that appealed to people. | What a clever place to hide the scarf Dreamflower. I just loved the description of the wool and the dyeing. I could almost 'see' it and I want one just like it please. You are taking orders aren't you? I often wonder what I would grab if I had to leave in A hurry, (it wouldn't be the sensible things I am sure,) and my heart goes out to anyone who has had to abandon home and lose treasured possessions. I *am* making one (I think that's why this story came to me) but it's spoken for. One of the contributors to the second PippinHealer Round Robin will win it when it is finished. I am seeing that everyday. It breaks my heart. Several of my friends have lost everything, and no matter how many times they say "it's just stuff", I remember the special things they had, that they loved and are now forever gone... | What a lovely back story to a scarf that has taken on a life of its own. I love the way Pippin tucked it in the hem of his cloak - and that he offered it back to Frodo says a lot about his generosity. Author Reply: Author Reply from Dreamflower: I came up with the idea that the scarf was a gift from Frodo, and had been one his mother made for Bilbo back when I wrote "Conspiracy". And then this whole little scenario just came to me full blown, of Frodo telling Pippin its story. I thought that it would be safe in the hem of an Elven cloak if anywhere.
