I love those reasons given to name that child Sam. And to make mention that Frodo was healed by the divine was very nice. Nice that Aragorn meet more of these remarkable hobbits. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I think there were lots of very good reasons for naming a child after Sam. I often wonder if the Shire was full of little Sams, especially after he became Mayor.

My dear BB!

Once again your writing is second to none in its ability to create and convey a sense of homeliness and welcome. By your pen the Shire in rendered to be the place where you would most want to sit down with a favoured pint next to a warm fire, preferably in a pub very close to home. Ah Hobbits, indeed. What a wonderful people, made even more wonderful by your warmth and love in writing them. You've alway excelled at writing hobbits, but now you developed a lovely felicity of language when writing Men and Elves, as well. I shall begin Chapter 4 straight away!

MM

Author Reply: Cheers MM! Glad you liked it. A visit to a Shire inn for a cosy chat and a seat next to the fireplace sounds perfect to me - and you too!!

Thank you for letting me know that I am getting the hang of writing for Elves - thanks to you I think, as you've always understood them. Hobbits I have never had a problem with! :-))

Very sweet visit. Yes, a good replacement for "When the King returns--indeed a good one!

"Perhaps we should change it and say 'When Sam Gamgee forgets how to grow taters'!" LOL! Well, that's indeed something that will never ever happen!
Although Paladin seems to envy Saradoc for his eloquency, *his* speech was really not bad. I liked both of them.

As you may have guessed, I'm waiting for the night when they all drink a little too much and that mysterious song is started ;-)
Maybe, in Hobbiton?

Author Reply: As far as Paladin's 'envy' of Saradoc, it is more that in the stories I have written, the banquets have been at Brandy Hall, so Saradoc gets the chance to speak first.

I don't know that 'Nineteen Nights in Nobottle' is a mysterious song, just very vulgar and jolly. It is a typically obscene drinking song, rather like one which used to be well-known in Britain, called 'The Ballad of Eskimo Nell.'
I leave it to you to imagine what it was about! Yes, they will be very drunk in Hobbiton, and Aragorn will finally hear the uncensored version. :-))

How delightful to discover this chapter tonight! *sigh of deep contentment*

I would quote the parts I like best, but I'd end up quoting almost the entire chapter.

I truly loved that Pervinca named her new son after Sam--what a lovely surprise! And the image of all those tall men and Elves holding the tiny hobbit children just turned me into a puddle of goo.

Thank you so much for creating this wonderful AU! It's just throroughly a joy!

Author Reply: *fetches sponge to mop up gooey puddle*

Pervinca Took is a very determined lady and would suffer no arguements from Sam about what is or isn't 'proper.' Little Persimmon is very much like her mother.

Glad you enjoyed another visit to my AU. I'd love to attend a hobbit party! *sigh* Guess this is the closest I'll get!

What a wonderful chapter! Saradoc and Paladin's speeches were just wonderful, and oh! The return of the dreaded tea towel! Love it. And I *really* love these...

"Fo's fwiend? Then my fwiend too," she declared, increasing her grip.

"This means a lot to you, doesn't it, sire?"

Aragorn swallowed. "Yes, it does. Both Frodo and Sam went through things no-one should ever have to bear, and it warms my heart to see them both given the credit they deserve, particularly in their own land."

*raises my glass in a toast*

Author Reply: *raises teacup in reply* (Well, it is 6.30am here!)

Delighted that you enjoyed the speeches. I imagine hobbits go in for fun at gatherings of this sort but I'm sure both hobbits wished to express their gratitude and admiration.

Little Persimmon just appeared in Buckland Celebration and is a self-willed and determined Took lass. She going to be a real character I think.
