| Oooo, I was right. This is good. Pranks are nothing new, but yours are done in a most original way. Gimli gets the elf's goat quite well, and it was a neat touch for Legolas to let the wood do his retalitating for him. Again, I could see Gimli swinging his shield up instinctively the block the branch from poking him. I loved the following line from grumpy Legolas: “Trust Hobbits to misuse their knowledge of horticulture.” The second part was wonderful, with Gimlli proclaiming his doubt about listening to the wood. Then, "All I hear is a breeze moving through the leaves.” “But there is no wind, Gimli.” *shiver* That was a bit of magic. ~TF Author Reply: Hehehee, yes, I didn't want to make the story too intense, and my personal experience has taught me that one way two people with differing personalities could bond would be to play pranks on each other (it is a very strange ritual, to be sure). Plus I wanted to give a hint about Legolas' abilities being more than perhaps the Dwarf is aware of. The talking trees scene is one dear to my heart, and I'm relieved that you find it effective, as I tried to make it as subtle as possible. Thank you! | |

Author Reply: Thank you, I was especially worried about the talking trees scene because I didn't want to overplay it with details, and in my mind, one of Gimli's most endearing traits is his underlying reluctance to attempt anything he may not fully understand, even though he'd actually do just about anything to gain a greater understanding about his Elven counterpart. | |
