Aw, that was sweet. I don't know if a Man would have been able to return the chick to the nest without alarming its mother, but it makes sense that Elves might be able to do it. They're much more closely tied to the natural world, after all. Author Reply: I agree wholeheartedly. Elves, especially wood elves, can hear as well as feel the world around them. I could never picture that mother hawk being afraid of Legolas. She certainly thought she was giving him a grand reward for saving her baby.

Perfect! I love the connection between elf and nature here, and it really reminds me of my first cat bringing my dad a mouse as a gift. The poor dear couldn't figure out why the man was so upset - she meant it as a compliment... Author Reply: Thank you. I love that connection, too. I guess it's hard for some people to understand what an animal is tryring to say with their actions. Luckily, Legolas did.

That was adorable. It leaves you with the good, fuzzy feelings, as opposed to those cheesy, fuzzy feelings =) Author Reply: Thank you. Good fuzzy is definitely better than cheesy fuzzy. I'm glad you liked it.

Lovely tribute from a grateful mother, although useless to Legolas save as an indication of thanks. Enjoy the tale. Author Reply: Dead mice are a delicacy to hawks, so in her mind, the mother hawk thought it would be to Legolas, as well. I'm glad you liked it.

So sweet! I love seeing that mutual communication and kind-heartedness is taking place among such seemingly different creatures. What a lovely story. Author Reply: I do, too. And, of course, we know elves, particularly wood elves, have a special relationship with Nature and it's creatures. Thank you.
