I haven't been here (stories of Arda) in a very long time. I have read all there is (so far) of Shadow and Thought, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Your characters are very real, well thought out, and I can so see these misunderstandings and fears happening. I can't wait for more! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review and welcome to my stories !I'm so pleased you are enjoying this and the way I portray the characters.

Good revision of this chapter, especially the extra detail on Elbeth, and Faramir's reaction to her. I think it's very credible that Faramir's horror of his father's death and his own near-death in the pyre might have been repressed until now; some things cannot be immediately dealt with in the dark forests of the heart. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm glad you like the extra detail about Elbeth. She was only meant to make fleeting appearance but took over !I think Faramir has repressed his emotions a great deal until now.

Poor Fara with his PTSD-like flashback to the pyre of Denethor, thankfully he has Aragorn to help him. Little Elbeth was so cute. And I liked how at the end Eowyn saw the scars on Aragorn's back, that her she had caused when her misplaced anger had made her carelessly rip away Aragorn's bandages, and got choked up over it. I think Eowyn still has some growing up to do, but I think she's on the right path. Hmm, so the Rohirrim aren't inhibited like the Gondoreans are? I like the idea of a whole country filled with hot uninhibited blond men and fast horses! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I think Eowyn is learning now. I will send you a ticket for a trip to Rohan !

First meeting with Elbeth! There should be bells ringing! Faramir and Aragorn are so prudish! Like Eowyn, I'm rather surprised by it - after all, they've spent years with groups of warriors. I'd have thought excessive modesty would be impossible under those circumstances. They need each other though. And Eowyn is - now she's calmer - wise enough to see it. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. One reason I wanted rewrite this was to make more of the first meeting with Elbeth. To begin with,it was meant to be a one off,but ELbeth demanded more attention and keeps reappearing ! I wanted to create contrasting cultures and thought about stories I'd heard of women disguised as men in armies in olden days, which suggests keeping clothes on was possible then. Eowyn is gradually learning more wisdom.

You have been working very hard on this Linda and it is a riveting read. The developing relationship between these three is portrayed beautifully. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Your kind words make all the hard work worthwhile as sometimes I fear no one reads my rewrites.I'm so pleased you are enjoying the story.I feel I know my characters better than I did when i first wrote it,at least I hope so !

That was a nice chapter! I'm glad you kind of glossed over the sex part, LOL! I am really starting to like Eowyn now. Author Reply: I don't think Tolkien would have approved of x rated sex scenes! I'm pleased you enjoyed the chapter, the first part was my favourite. Many thanks for your kind review.

Caught up re-reading. Boy, I wanted to SMACK Eowyn for a couple of chapters there, she's just so damn mean to Aragorn in her misunderstood rage. I forgot how badly she had behaved. But Faramir is so wonderful caring for Aragorn, he totally warms the heart. PS--that part back in Chapter 2 about Aragorn and Arwen never seeing each other naked? Well, I don't know about Aragorn, but I bet you a venti Starbucks beverage of your choice that Arwen waited until he fell asleep one night then looked her fill! I mean, the guy may be the King, but he's also a hunk of 100% prime Numenorean beef--who wouldn't want to check him out! Author Reply: I'm truly honoured that you are rereading this story and am pleased you are enjoying Faramir's part in it. I wanted to smack Eowyn myself, I based her on wagner's Bruennhilde, the shieldmaiden of Norse?german mythology who probably inspired Tolkien too. I see both her and Faramir as rather damaged people after the war,but try to redeem her later. I based Aragorn and arwen's attitudes on an elderly Aunt who enjoyed grumbling about naked couples on TV and declaring she never and her husband never saw each other without clothes. They were happily married over 50 years and had a child..We do only have Aragorn's side of the story here though,so who knows your version could be correct ! Many thanks for your much appreciated reviews of my other story.I always eagerly await your comments s you have such interesting insights.

I'm glad to see Eowyn and Faramir have managed to get beyond the starting gate. They need each other. And they are beginning to recover and develop a better understanding of each other. Which can only be a good thing. Author Reply: Thank you for your kind review. Faramir and Eowyn are indeed falling in love all over again and this time with a deeper understanding of each other.
