Sneaky Snakes And Broken Bones by Anso the Hobbit | 9 Review(s) |

Oh, Anso, what a lovely chapter, filled with wonderful Merry h/c, and all the Fellowship working to help him. But I especially loved that it was Frodo who was doing the most here--after all, Pippin had done his part already, and was overcome with exhaustion and his own injuries. Too seldom do we see post-Quest Frodo as the care-giver, but I think that he would certainly be one for his Merry, if he were needed. This was wonderful!

This is very good and I liked Merry's talk with Frodo at the end of the chapter. Merry has been very brave throughout all of this and he has fought very hard against the black breath. I will be waiting for more of this one. Author Reply: Merry is a fighter`and braver than he thinks himself. More is being betaed at the moment so stay tuned. :)

I love the last part the best. I love Merry and Frodo camaderie. And for some reason, i love the sick Merry waking up to ask what's happened but still feeling ill somewhat~ Question--did the snake cause the Black Breath to come forth again? Since Aragorn said that the Enemy had many ways still yet to ensnare innocent persons... I love your h/c and can't wait for more! :) awww Merry~! ::huggles him and you:: Author Reply: Thank you. I am glad you like it. And yes, the snake did in a way cause it. But not because it is from the Dark Lands. Merry is not yet fully healed from the stabbing of the Witch King so an accident like this makes it easier for the Black Breath to take hold of him.

A sweet awakening for Merry. Both Merry and Frodo have been through the worst of the Shadow and would have more fellow-feeling, I'd expect. Author Reply: Yes. They share more than especially Frodo at first think when it comes to this.

Those snakes don't sound too good. Don't want too many of them around. And poor Merry is going through it at the moment. Between the effects of the Shadow, the broken bones and the infection - he needs all the attention he can get. Still - he has an excellent support network, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Author Reply: Merry has all the love and care he can hope for when something happens to him, but he`s in quite the pickle here. :)

Ohhh, I just love this story. I *especially* love these passages: And Merry had been exposed to it not once, but three times, and had actually set blade to the foul creature. What terrible darkness must hold his cousin in its icy grip? He couldn`t really remember, but they were all there for him, in their different and equally important ways. Baby cousin, wise peer, and valued friend, all at once. And I really appreciate this passage, and how you show that Merry is doing his part to fight back: Finally Aragorn sensed the Shadow retreating as the hobbit struggled toward Aragorn’s voice and the Light. Wonderful. Author Reply: Thank you! :)

"And Merry, sweet Merry, practical and dependable, yet in different ways than Sam. Always ready with a shoulder to cry on or with a bit of advice or solution to a problem. Merry, who loved maps and books just as much as Frodo himself and who was a willing and eager student if Frodo had something to teach him. Baby cousin, wise peer, and valued friend, all at once." That's just perfect! I'm really glad that Merry finally woke up! And it's so like him to apologize for all the trouble the others had with him. I hope, there will be no further complications? But after all, the story is not finished yet ;-) Author Reply: Nope, the story isn`t finished... :) And thank you for such nice words!
