Poor Pippin, what an ordeal for him. Yet he knows his duty to his King, and he wants to be sure that Frodo is properly honored in this far land, so he continues to go through it over and over. I wonder did he have any idea when he decided to accompany the King what he would be called on to do so often. It must have been a dreadful strain at times. Author Reply: I doubt Pippin expected to have to repeat the story so many times, but he knows now first that Frodo is being more honored, and second that the truth of what happened is finally being made known. Yes, it must have been very difficult for him, but he did fine.

Ruvemir's tale about the guild master was interesting - and I think, educating as well, for everyone there! And I am glad the priest and the Farozi and his family were there to hear it. They will learn something from this, of this I am sure after knowing a bit of what they have already done for their people. As you probably can imagine, this is a theme I feel involved, as I had some similar experiences! I loved the doves flying around Aragorn and Arwen! And it was a good idea to have told the tale of Morgoth, Sauron and the quest in front of all these people, even if it probably wasn't always easy for Legolas and Pippin. But it is important the people in Harad do know what happened. I'm sure they will benefit from the knowledge in the future, even if there is no new Sauron. Author Reply: As a special ed teacher, trying to educate the public has been an ongoing part of my job--teaching parents to accept their children, teaching people to develop realistic, positive expectations, teaching the public to accept my students, clients, friends, and colleagues in the community. Evil is, has been, and will continue to be. For the first time the probably more educated general public in Harad is learning just who and what Sauron was, and that he wasn't even on the par of the Valar themselves. This is a big shock to many of them, I'm certain. The story is reaching wider and wider audiences now, and it will have an impact. But so many still aren't willing to listen, even in this day and time! We keep trying to convince ourselves that we have the proper, final answer, and then trying to force that answer on everybody else.

Well I'm back again Larner! (and back at work too) and finally caught up with your great story. I love the way that you have so many people telling the story of the downfall of Sauron in their own words. But poor Pippin! I hope that Aragorn has his athelas handy again. As usual I love the omens! (P.s. my Dad has been and chosen a new pup - a big ball of black fluff who is going to be called 'Drake'. We collect him athe end of September!) Author Reply: Don't know if Pippin will need it, but he's getting a bit flummoxed now, I think. Glad to see you back! And hug the ball of black fluff when it comes to stay! Drake, eh? Will you give him a drum and a fleet? (Sorry--from now on Drake will ever bring to mind Katherine Kurtz's _Lammas Night_ book in which she references Drake and his drum.)

I loved the image of the doves circling round Aragorn and Arwen Author Reply: If three circles is the sign of recognition for hidden royalty, how many circles would they make about the last Queen of the Elven peoples left in Middle Earth? Thanks so for the response.
