| Wow, this story has grown!! Well, Celebrían certainly knows her sons! She reads them so easily. Of course she and Galadriel don’t want the twins knowing they’ve played a part in deceiving them! Not that they have to worry about any revenge. I doubt Elladan and Elrohir would do anything to their beloved Naneth, and they have more sense than to take on wily old granny. ‘And I will have to have a word with young Thranduilion' LOL. I knew Legolas should have kept his mouth shut. It’s hilarious watching them all watching each other. I actually think Elladan is right that Glorfindel would have been the best one to say something to them. Unfortunately, Glorfindel seems to like a good joke… Will they get revenge on him? I’d like to see them try! *cringe* I hadn’t thought about how many must have been ‘educated’ by the twins. So the fact that half the Blessed Realm is now using embarrassing phrases in Khuzdul is entirely the fault of all those in on the joke? Well, it’s worth a shot… Author Reply: Oh my, but the story has grown! Bit like the Khuzdul curses, really. It has got OUT OF HAND. But it has just been such fun. I can't imagine that the twins would blame their naneth - or their daernaneth (if they value their safety). They've been brought up to be fierce warriors in battle and gentle as kittens with the ladies in their lives. (Could be part of Elrohir's difficulties with the twinlets now I come to think of it.) Perhaps Galadriel has 'seen' how complex the whole business is going to be to sort out - and feels like tearing a strip off the one who revealed the business. Yes, I think Glorfindel would have been the best to speak. Within a century of the incident, preferably. But he is a terrible tease - and then I think the whole thing just disappeared from their minds really. I can't see the twins running about using their debatable grasp of Khuzdul in front of their family on purpose. So it could be surprising just how many of their friends and acquaintances have picked up a word or two. Their plan could do with a bit more work though . . . | |

| ‘How refreshingly naïve,’ I love Glorfindel. He is so wicked sometimes! ;-) I love the older generation sitting back discussing whether they should 'fess up and I love the twins' reaction: ‘They are all in on it,’ Elladan said incredulously. Hilarious! So shocked. The poor things. And as they ponder the whole thing out--too funny. This is just great. Author Reply: Glorfindel just does this! Give him screen time and he starts being wicked. And polished. The cat is well out of the bag now - the elders might just as well put the best face they can on the story. But I don't thind E2 will want to let them get away with it that easily. (Except perhaps their naneth. I think she gets a free pass to do what she wants.) Glad you liked it. | |

| I love this story. What a great joke the dwarves played on the twins, but it did spread arround. Gimli must have had a great time, trying not to laugh. Author Reply: Thank you. The original dwarves can never have expected this joke to run ans spread over 3000 plus years. They'd have had even more fun with it if they had known! Gimli must have had a great time with it. Legolas probably found him unexpectedly amenable to any suggestion of spending time with the twins. But he would have been too loyal to the elf and ranger to take any other dwarves along for the laugh. (My brother's brother being my brother. Sort of.) | |

| Bodkin, this is brilliant. My internet time has been serious curtailed recently, so I haven't been able to keep up and review chapter by chapter, but I just wanted you to know how much I'm enjoying it. And how many "laugh out loud" moments you just gave me! Wonderful, as ever. I certainly do enjoy everything you write. Author Reply: I'm glad you're enjoying it - it has been tremendous fun to write. (Curtailed internet time is bad - haven't you just started a new challenge? I hope it's going well!) Each of these sections is quite short - but they've been throwing themselves at me like lemmings at the cliff's edge. I will get back to other things soon. Thank you, Bejai. | |

I'm not sure if they really care much about others using those words - but they do want to make their elders cringe. And give them the responsibility for setting things straight. After all - if they had been told the truth 3000 years ago, there wouldn't be a problem, now, would there? | |

| Oh yeah, just 4 chapters. The joke really cannot go much longer than that. Ha! Well, we are all very glad that it did. ;) Thanks, Bodkin. And now, a Chapter 7! Yay! An even dozen would be an appropriate number, no? Excellent chapter! I love how you write these characters and their wonderful interaction. So, E2 is aware of the flaw in their plan, but still going for whatever revenge they can get out of it, eh? Personally, I would not be surprised if several younger elves, more then they figure, did pick up their dwarfish curses. Who in those families would know the difference or mention this expressive flaw in one's character in polite society? Their naneths and adars would not curb their offspring either, methinks. Any more than the twins kin did, but for entirely different reasons. E2 could be headed for a fall, not their elders. Goodness, when those elflings that did look up to the twins begin to suspect that they themselves have been the butt of yet another Elrondionath prank. They might indeed have a problem... Author Reply: It has got a little out of hand. And it's still growing - although I think it's maybe not quite as funny now that there are hurt feelings involved. E2s plan is a bit of an impulse - they would have been better to think it through a bit more - but it has its merits. I'm sure that nothing will be as simple as they think! There must be plenty of younger elves (under 3000) who have picked up some of the twins' turns of phrase - but who hopefully don't know what they mean. (I'd be tempted to leave well enough alone and just let them get on with it - it's not as if there are lots of dwarves around to get offended / amused.) A problem? We will see! | |

| Ah, I like the ending to this delightful tale. Those who kept the secret have been rumbled - and E2 are going to make them pay! The twins are due a little revenge, I think, after the way their nearest and dearest fooled them (or failed to enlighten them, which amounts to the same thing in this case). Author Reply: There should be revenge of a sort. But although E2 would be more than happy to put Glorfindel - and possibly Elrond - through torment, they are too soft-hearted to want to torture Celebrian. And too wary to tease Galadriel. Who is not pleased with Legolas. But there are still ripples spreading in this pool, so there might be more parts yet! | |

| It would be a shame to spoil a joke that has been going on for soooo long, so it is only fair that two more players are included here.. Best reaction is action.. or something like that! Adar, we have a problem... that was great indeed! :-) The mischievous nature of elves, a case study, this could become, Bodkin.. truly it was a great idea, for them to turn tables into their elders. NOw I would be running in search of Thranduil, if I were Legolas.. just in case Galadriel feels the need to talk to him right now... SO all in all, now we have a pretty good bunch of people just pretending innocence, and soon a poor Legolas wondering when the next ship to Eressea sets sail, surely... Great great grwoing little thing! :-) Author Reply: Oh, Galadriel feels the need to pin Legolas down all right!! And possibly pin him to something. Now revenge has crept into frame - goodness knows what will happen next. I think there might need to be a serious talk - although that would rather detract from the humour of it all. This is the kind of situation that could be defused quite easily if only Naneth would take a hand. And it's still growing. More slowly now, but tendrils are still seeking something to twine round. | |
