Oh, Aragorn! How could you?? Yech! Snails!! Blech, blech, blech!!....... *giggles* If he got me to like snails, I'd smack him, then laugh heartily!! Snails, indeed!! I still can't get over that!!! And he was complaining about Ėowyn's soup!!! I must say you have an overactive imagination!! And I love it!! ~Eléon~

*chuckle* How delightful! I am *so* loving these. So, Aragorn has learned that Bagginses are stubborn. I will also note that Boromir is *remembering* his lesson, and distracting the hobbits with thoughts of food. And I adore Merry's explanation for the name. *snicker* Far be it from a Brandybuck to admit he doesn't know something. As to escargot, I am afraid I would never try them myself. But my husband loves them. Author Reply: Brilliant, brilliant Dreamflower! You are the only one who tied Boromir's lesson to Aragorn's lesson. Thank you, thank you! ((hugs you))

I simply had to tell you how much I've loved all these tales, and this one was priceless. 'Escarp goats'!!! Bwahahaha! Oh my, what will our hobbits think when they learn the truth. I do hope you write that bit. I also loved Sam's reaction to Aragorn asking to borrow his pans - 'as though he'd asked to borrow the Ring for the evening'! I can just see Sam's disapproving face. Hope you'll write more soon. Author Reply: I'm so glad you are enjoying these! I had originally intended ten stories, one for each member of the Fellowship (including Bill, or course), but they keep spinning off more plot bunnies. Who knows? The day Frodo and the others find out that Aragorn tricked them just might get written, after all.

I wonder what French for snails translates to in Middle Earth? Poor Frodo--so suspicious. Love that Legolas and Boromir both helped Aragorn out in this one. Author Reply: We are seeing another side of the forming of the Fellowship, aren't we? Big People unite! And they had better watch each other's backs when Frodo finds out!

Escarp goats? Oh, I love it! I'd love to see the Hobbits' reaction when they find out the truth. And what a surprise to see Legolas being so - creative - with the truth! Jay Author Reply: I love stories in which the Big People of the Fellowship have to work together to deal with the hobbits. Including Legolas, who might be around humans a little too much. Still, however strong a united front the Big People present, will it be sufficient to confront four insulted and enraged hobbits? Huummmm...

Escargots, huh? When are they going to be fed cuisses de grenouille? He'd better not let on until the - er - delightful little gastropods have made it through the hobbits' digestive systems without ill effect. I loved the squelching Boromir after bath supervision duty. And he was extremely cunning to distract the hobbits with thoughts of less slippery meals. "Ah, Boromir," Merry said fondly, "We will teach you to think like a hobbit yet." What a lovely line. Some excellent hobbit analysis from Gandalf here. Aragorn would do well to listen carefully. And abandon his thoughts of feeding them bugs! Author Reply: Aragorn's determination to make the hobbits exploit 'all available food sources' is becoming a personal battle with Frodo, I fear. It has been a running joke through several of my stories. I'm glad the greater message came though - thank you for being an attentive reader. And for letting me know you are enjoying the "Lessons."

Fantastic fun Budgielover. I am surprised that Sam was pondering on Ilthilien coney in Morder and not marsh caught escargot! Author Reply: (laughs) Hummm ... we'll have to say that Aragorn doesn't tell Sam and Frodo what they ate until after the Quest is complete, and they are all together again in Minas Tirith. I think King Elessar had best have his guards about him!

Oh how to brighten even a Monday evening - what a wonderful series of tales- All of them equally brilliant - Boromir's confusion, Legolas' exasperation, Aragorn's sneaky culinary skills and Gimli's wonderful body heat. This collection goes into my favorites to be read over and over until it becomes fanon and turns up in my own writing as fact. Loved it, will read again and again Thank you Rose Author Reply: Rose, I wanted to thank you for your words. I had never heard the word 'fanon' before you used it, and it awed and humbled me. I keep every review, good or bad, and read them again and again when I need a reason to keep doing this. A very few I print out and paste up on the cabinet over my desk. This will join them.

"Shells" -- that was such an ominous word! Then a nice bit of suspense. I don't want to be there when the hobbits learn about the true identity of their "goat." Well -- yes, I *do* want to be there. Author Reply: *grins* There have been quite a few requests for when the hobbits find out. Frodo, especially. I cannot see him lauching himself at Aragorn with a shrill scream of rage, but I wouldn't rule it out. Frodo's under a lot of stress, after all... (Honestly, don't these stories ever have an end? Each plot bunny breeds a dozen more!)
